My Feed

The hip younger sister restaurant delivering inventive (wild & sustainable) seafood creations and unique pizzas from a wood burning oven in Berkeley. We started with the Dukkah Spiced Flatbread, light and flavorful. I enjoyed the black mussels also prepared in the wood-burning oven with an unique harrissa vinaigrette. For my main, I choose the Petrale Sole and I'm glad I did. A perfectly pan fried generous piece of fish a top roasted and puree cauliflower, topped with a sea-bean grape salad and drizzled with brown butter. Oh my, this was good. The sweet and roasted flavors danced around the delicate fish. We ordered one of each of the 3 desserts, of course Mark's Mothers coconut cream pie, a pear tart topped with vanilla ice cream and a dark chocolate cappuccino mousse. It was the perfect end to a delightful meal. I recommend and will return. Enjoy! visit to read more reviews

We had Sunday breakfast there, it was very crowded and we sat at the counter, after 10 minutes we received our silverware and menu's. We ordered and received 3 of our breakfasts, people who walked in after us had their orders and were eating, 10 minutes later the 4th breakfast arrived, which was refused as most of use were about finished. When we went to pay, the gentleman apologized, which was nice, we even left a tip, but the woman with the short hair started screaming at us for ruining her day and continued to inform us we were not welcome back. The food is below average, the service is sporadic at best, and this is not the first time eating here ether, The Polk Street Station was always a better choice, I look forward to their return soon, better food and no attitude, they know how to treat good customers. visit to read more reviews

One of the last of "Old San Francisco" restaurants, with waiters still in traditional tuxedos. Top quality food at reasonable prices, you will never go wrong here or leave hungry. The fish, steaks, and pasta are to die for, nobody in the city does it better. The seven course meals are the best deals in the city. This is the place WHERE ITALIANS COME TO EAT ITALIAN, I have observed fishermen right off the boat come in and eat. With Frank, Dino & Sammy music playing in the background , you would expect to see a few "Wiseguys" in this joint. visit to read more reviews

I recently enjoyed a wonderful evening at Maritime East, a great new addition to the food scene in Berkeley. Maritime offers fine dining with special (but not exclusive) focus on seafood- my favorite. I was able to taste a wide variety of items on the menu, and particularly enjoyed the Dukkah spiced flatbread which is deliciously flavorful with the “Chopped” Salad which includes organic chicory, quince, and hazelnuts. We also tried a special wood-fired pizza topped with spaghetti squash and BBQ eel, which was unique and tasty. For my entree I enjoyed a nice-sized portion of Wild Hawaiian Ono served with divine creamed leeks & winter greens, and fingerling potatoes. Though I was quite full when our desserts, a pear tart and mocha mousse came I couldn't help eat them up too. Our dining experience was really nice, and I look forward to returning to Maritime East. visit to read more reviews

Picaro is one of my favorite places, we go there very often and we recommend it to our friends, because their GREAT SERVICE, personalized service, excellent Paella, tapas and DELICIOUS SANGRIA, so tasty that I want to go back now. We eat there at least twice a month and the people who help us are always so nice and friendly (M.J) I highly recommend this place to celebrate parties. We celebrated my birthday there this year, everybody was happy with the service, paella and sangria and was not expensive at all for 16 guests. I this this restaurant is unique because of the service and good food and also because of the space inside is not to narrow ,so you can enjoy your meal without banging another customers eating. visit to read more reviews

They were understaffed the night we went for dinner so the service was a little slow. The sushi was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. I would if the wait was too long at the other sushi restaurants in the neighborhood. visit to read more reviews

I've had the yellow curry and green beans and the seafood soup- all delicious. I've yet to try any other restaurant in the food court because this place is cheap, the portions are generous and it's delicious! visit to read more reviews

I've been here three times and have enjoyed the salad, the pizza and the pasta. The only 'problem' is that sometimes I stop by for a meal and it's closed. It's loud and noisy and satisfying. visit to read more reviews

This is a nicer restaurant than Noe Valley's Barney's, but the food is the same. We love the curly fries and like the burgers. The portions are outrageous, including the kid sized plates. visit to read more reviews

Delicious and authentic tapas and strong cocktails. I like that you can sit outdoors and watch the world go by with your sangria in 80 degree weather. It's almost like being in Spain (when the euro is really high). Not cheap, but worth at least one visit with a large group. visit to read more reviews

I've never eat in, only taken food to go and it was really, really delicious. I had their salad and the next time their chicken plate. Portions are generous and the prices are fair. visit to read more reviews

All around fantastic decor, food and drinks. I had the three way aji and even having eaten some pretty darn good poke in Kauai, the quality of what they use here is outstanding. It's not to be missed. Their slaw and asian salad were special, too. My dining partner had the fried basket and the fish and oyster were great. We both felt that the coconut shrimp was too sweet. Cocktails were nice and strong. We had the asperagus as an appetizer and it was very good. The down side to the evening was how fast everything was which works if you're ravenous, but not if you're on a date. visit to read more reviews

My 1st time here Dec 2007. We had the salmon and the grilled calamari apps. The salmon was ridiculously salty, we left 1/2 and it was taken off the bill. The calamari was PERFECTLY cooked and the bed of white beans ---fabulous...and also too salty...but not as salty as the salmon. The dungeness crab salad was very simple and clean...a tad expensive @ $15 and very little crab, but a nice balance of flavours. The warm olives were lovely and not salty at all! and i need to find a place to buy them! The wild nettle ravioli was nicely prepared, great flavours. The hanger steak was a dissappointment, it had a gamey quality to it and as opposed to a regular hanger this looked like a mini beef tenderloin and it came with OK frites...on the cold side. Overall i liked the quality but ya really gotta take a break on the salt visit to read more reviews

Just OK. Sashimi was mediocre, Salmon is a basic...if you can't do that I have little faith...and their Salmon was not very good. Tried a couple rolls and they too were just OK. Tuna app was decent. Nothing stood out. Service was great and the place is cute...but I won't be back. visit to read more reviews

12/07 Sat. Thank God for created Atherton, Stanford Mall, and Flea Street Cafe in between. Thank Chef Jesse Cool for focusing on organic, sustainable, and “green”. The multilevel dining area is elegant casual, with white table cloth and mini lamp. My braised grass-fed short ribs ($32) were tender and full of complex flavors, served with fried potatoes, baby turnip & beets. Her grilled dayboat scallops ($15 app) were matched with shaved Sonoma cheese. But the best dish was the Sonoma duck breast ($30), with tenderly meat yet retained a firm/fresh texture. The preserved cranberry chutney sauce just added more dimensions to the taste. The 2-way lamb ($34) had braised riblets and grilled chop with apple/fig chutney. They were mellow and delicious. All portions were not overfilling, with equal balance between meat and vegies. The cooking is least fatty, yet plentiful of genuine tastes. Desserts: ginger creme brulee was ok, but the bread pudding was fantastic. Pro service. Another gem! 4* visit to read more reviews
