If I was told to describe Angela in one word...I'd have to say without a doubt, that would be an impossible task in itself! The woman has this incredible energy, & I feed off of it everytime I'm near her. She's an incredible resource of knowledge in the community, & her
Ed-U-Kink workshops with Iain are in My opinion the most informative around...that's why whenever I come across newbies in the scene/community, I point them right to Iain & Angela's workshops!
Now, don't read too deep into that! The woman isn't some staunch old bitty, now...she's adorably cute, full of pep, sharp as a tack, wacky witty sense of humour...& real fun to give goosebumps when I make "tiger purrs" in her ear whenever I see her! :)
All said...it has been an Honour & a Pleasure getting to know Angela, & to All of you who don't, I reccomend that you do all you can to make that acquaintance, because women of this caliber pass through Our community few & far between!

Just because she never causes a ripple, let's not assume Ms. A is always angelic!
Instead, she's multifaceted, intelligent, has a curious mind, she's kind-hearted, and beautiful. Go, Ms. A!

I posted the following in my LiveJournal and to a couple of email discussion lists we're on, and have been encouraged by the responses to try to post it more broadly.
I also got a letter from SF Bay Times, asking me if they could post it as a Letter to the Editor (to which I said, yes) and an endorsement email from Jane Sheehan, one of the founders of Queer Nation, (and the person who coined the "We're here! We're queer! Get used to it!" chant used so often at Pride parades).

One of the things the supporters of "No on Prop 8" are encouraging people to do is to talk about how this amendment will affect them, personally. So, I'd like to do that, if you will indulge me for a minute.
First, at last count, I am friends with at least seven gay and lesbian couples who have gotten married, or soon will be married, who will be horrendously impacted by this Proposition if it passes. For some of them, they have been jerked around and pulled back and forth over the legal...

As I pass through my incarnations in every age and race,
I make my proper protestations to the Gods of the Market-Place.
Peering through reverent fingers I watch them flourish and fall.
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings, I notice, outlast them all.
We were living in trees when they met us. They showed us each in turn.
That water would certainly wet us, as Fire would certainly burn:
But we found them lacking in Uplift, Vision, and Breadth of Mind,
So we left them to teach the Gori...

"Do not assume that she who seeks to comfort you now, lives untroubled among the simple and quiet words that sometimes do you good. Her life may also have much sadness and difficulty, that remains far beyond yours. Were it otherwise, she would never have been able to find these words."
~ Rainer Maria Rilke

Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
~ Max Ehrmann
My approach to friending:
Some people add "friends" willy nilly, regardless of whether they know someone or not. That's not my style. I usually only add people to my friends list if they are people I have met in real life AND have gotten to know at some level. If that doesn't describe you, please do not take offense if I decline a friend request. If you live in the area, get to know me a bit first, THEN request the add. If you live elsewhere, I guess it will depend on whether our paths cross some day.
My approach to tribe membership:
Sometimes I join tribes out of curiosity, skim through the posts, and then leave. Sometimes I stick around awhile and lurk. The big thing is, even in the tribes that are my favorites, I don't post that often. If I ask to join your tribe, and I later decide to leave, please don't take offense. I'm just wandering around, and I don't mean any harm by it.
I have pared my list of tribes down to relatively few tribes, and I don't spend as much time in tribe as a lot of people I know. I'm finding I just don't have the bandwidth in my life right now to handle a large volume of tribe postings.
