Any fun bellydance happenings going on around town on Sunday? Probably not, but it doesn't hurt to ask...
So I'm finally back into the dancing groove around here. Oh man, is it just what I needed. I almost felt as if I'd forgotten how to smile, until I started dancing again.

I started taking classes at the Jasmin Jahal School in Chicago. They recommended that I start at Level 1. Boy am I glad I did! If you're in the Twin Cities and you're looking for something fun to do tonight, come to Ball's Cabaret at the Southern Theater in Minneapolis! Basimah Kamar (the bellydance troupe I'm in) will be dancing two numbers. Admission is only $5. No need to RSVP. The cabaret starts at midnight, so show up at around 11:45 p.m. or so. Well, I just saw that the video that our friend Luke Ski took of us dancing at CONvergence has been viewed 1021 times on YouTube. How crazy is that? It's a bummer that this particular performance of "Konami Code III", and not the version we performed at the Gothla, is the one that's on the internet. It's been a real joy and privilege getting to know Angela over the past year. She is that rare combination of a naturally gifted dancer who pays attention in class, a teacher's dream!
She also is very conscious of portraying our art form in the best possible light, and her positive energy is extremely contagious so consider yourself warned ;). I'm really looking forward to sharing more dance experiences with her and am happy to be friends with such a great dance sister.
