women's work for me means cooking & cleaning; women's work means hard hat and pistol. i bathe, shave, pluck, primp, moisten, arrange, rearrange & all of it just to be seen in public.

i am not guerrilla barbie: i lack the finesse. i am guerrilla librarian lesbian, your run-of-the-mill gender subversive. dancing is to be done in private: i am too shy to dance for you.

my work is done at night, with flashlight and blowtorch and dishsoap and steeltoes and laundry-basket and kitty litter and too much caffeination and my rabid words foam from my mouth onto the paper and into the air.

my neighbours know i am crazy. i will strike fear into the heart of the military-industrial complex. if i can manage to get out of bed. revolution requires less sleep and more sanity than i can muster.

but i am a sworn minutewoman - i come from the first free state, sprung fully-loaded from my parents' heads. my womb was their worst fever-dreams. i am mixed blood, mixed religion, mixed sex, mixed gender; there is too much brain and too much heart and way, way too much emotion for this frail frame.

i am the conduit to the divine: hear, o people, the words of the guerrilla librarian angel. glossolalia is not optional. participation is not optional.

... and if you think revolution is optional, you are sadly mistaken. the revolution will not be televised - because the media never talk about anything resembling reality anymore.
