I just got my MA in Arabic and Islamic Studies. I'm a retired roller girl with almost two years of beating other women up on the rink. I'm also an aspiring burlesque performer and hoop dancer. Oh and I also dig in the dirt for a living (a.k.a an archaeologist).

I'm a hoopin' fool (blog entry) I actually got up on stage last night at the Surly Wench and hooped in between the first and second act for Black Cherry Burlesque. I'm not that great...only been doing it for a few months but people are amazed by hooping.

Strangely enough...BP does NOT have dashboard cameras...where'd the video come from? Hmmm....ah well...ENJOY!!!

My Blog

I'm back!
I've been off of tribe for MONTHS. I completely lost track of myself and why I started hooping in the first place. Now that I'm moving to a peaceful little town in Northern Arizona (my husband and I are splitting) I've realized that I want to reconnect with hooping and get back in touch with what made me fall in love with it in the first place.

I really need to find myself and I know I'm somewhere in my hoop.

A little catch up...
A lot has changed since my last entry. I've quit roller derby (yes...but it served it's purpose in my life and now I have more time to hoop!) and finished writing my thesis. I defend the beast on Thursday (day after tomorrow) and I haven't the slightest idea what I'm doing. My advisor is out of town and has not checked her email, hence no answer on exactly HOW I'm going to defend. So I've only been hooping a week...and I'm already frustrated.
