Happy Birthday Kiddo!
Today - kinda a dull blur for the most part. I, feeling more sentimental than most days - 27 years ago, my son Tyler came into this world. He has made me a proud mom indeed. Before leaving work, I made a point of hunting down a co-worker remembering her son shared the same birthday as my kid. Her son was killed two years ago. Upon seeing me, she broke down in my arms and cried. She had bought a cake the night before to take to his grave. She and the rest of her family will spend the evening in mourning. Left handed - right brained. I struggle at times with things like taxes and accounting stuff, but I am glad to do it, the pay-off is sweet - feeling, being present and promises of a fine tomorrow...Think about it....what side is your dominate? How can you make the most of it? Care to change?

I really appreciate the connections I have made here on tribe and how these connections have opened my world to some wonderful events and my heart to some wonderful souls. That said, I am growing frustrated with the way tribe is doing business now that I am a paid subscriber. Here is my response to the email they sent me today. I know it won't get read by the forces that are running tribe so I thought I would share it with you and ask, am I the only one??Dear Tribe Inc:
You guys really really need to get your act together. Examples:
1) I joined up as a paying member within one week of your announcing the subscription.
2) I never got my damn t-shirt although I paid a year subscription up front
3) Tribe members don't need or want "chat"...but how about focusing on keeping your site up and running. The "unscheduled" maintenance interruptions continue at an unacceptable rate...forget chat and focus on stability
4)It is an insult to offer premium members a shocking pink profile scheme that gives everyone headaches...
5) sending premium members email soliciting membership when you should be apologizing for your shoddy service and thanking us for our support even though you continue to fail to provide a stable site...
More and more folks are moving to facebook and similar sites. I don't know how long I can hold off myself.
If you can't tell...this little email of yours has struck a nerve.

We hope you excuse this mass mailing. Some of you getting this email specifically have told us that you don't want email from tribe.net and we generally don't send out emails to the entire userbase. We wanted to let you know about the big changes that have happened here at tribe.net, and if you haven't checked in with us in a while we encourage you to do so.
We’ve listened to our users for solutions to our site instability problems. The overwhelming consensus is that our users love tribe.net so much that they are willing to pay for a premium subscription for all the functions that we now give to you. We launched a premium subscription service on November 30, 2007 to allow folks to support tribe.net at a rate of five bucks for thirty days.
Tribe’s traditional, free service is going to continue just as it always has and always will. Those that want to upgrade can click on the PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION link, fill out the information, and sign up. The premium subscribers will automatically have a gold star instead of the orange bubble when they’re online. We also offer bi-annual and annual memberships for $25 and $50 respectively. Each of these services comes with a free 4 day trial period -- you can cancel anytime before the 4 days is up and not be charged.
We’re aware that some people may not be able to sign up for premium service for various reasons. For those folks we offer the free service (hopefully they’ll click on some of those ads), but we’re also offering an ADOPT A TRIBE ORPHAN link where some kind folks can help out one of their friends (or maybe a
lucky, random person) by upgrading them to premium subscription status.
What do you get for this? Currently, the only benefits are turning off the advertising and access to our new web-based TRIBECHAT function. TRIBECHAT is a Jabber based instant messenger that is accessible to all tribe members who have a Jabber client such as Adium (for Apple) or Trillian (for PC). This allows you to chat with anyone on your tribe friends list.
Ever since we launched this service, we've felt so grateful for this outpouring of support from the Tribe communities. You all have made tribe.net a wonderful place to connect, and we hope that you'll think of us more in the future. Big changes are on the horizon so keep in touch to know the latest.
Finally, if you've purchased a premium subscription, we salute you. We have over 1000 subscribers now and the number is steadily growing each day! Redwoods, Daffos and Universal Payback
I receive daily notes in my email from the universe....the following one from the other day pleased me so!"This just in... mari, no matter how happy you have ever been, even at your happiest, it won't come close to how happy you will one day be.

This morning, headed out the door, I found these lovely daffos tucked behind my door knob. Such sweetness in the mystery and the kindness.
Back in my high school days, my friend Victoria and I used to trek out to Oak Run, targetting the old Hobson Dairy in March. (It was an annual event for a couple of years) The house and barn at Hobsons were crumbling, but all around were daffos! We picked buckets! Back home, we arranged and then in the dark of night, went around town and left them on random doorsteps. Wow, the universe takes it's sweet time with paybacks!
Off to hug some redwood trees, got to do something with this bliss I am feeling....

Upcoming Holiday
That's right damn it...a holiday! 'Tis the only one we have here in Amerika where we recognize the wisdom and intuitive nature of the animal world. The grand, the great...GROUNDHOG DAY....yipppeeeee......What will it be....shadow? No shadow? Promise of Spring or Doom of long chill and drippy drizzle? Our fate lies in the paws of a rodent?

Then there is the subtext; that movie, you know the one I mean....yeah yeah...with Billy Boy Murray...doomed to repeat over and over and over...that day, the frustration, and the exploration...the release of the punch and the joy of sexual plotting...oh heck...reminds me of hooping....
Now I know you are wondering what I have been smoking and that's okay....just that in the hoop I am sometimes doomed to the same moves and the same mistakes. I think I have it, I explore and fail, frustrated, pushing until I make the magical adjustment and break through to the otherside. Eyes closed, I see no shadow and feel the promise of a new level of hooping right around the bend.....like Spring ....damnit....Spring and picnics and hooping and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the park....
Got that....Groundhog Day is a hooping holiday. Will be hosting a hooppaiN hoedown at the Farm here in SF on Sat 2.2. from the late afternoon to early eve....should be a fun bunch...we are gonna grind that hog....throw down some slick moves and break through to an early Spring...
Or so it is planned....
