about me
Hmmnn. I like most all kinds of music; I enjoy my Tiki Bar that I built (and stocked. wOOt) as well as English Coutry Dance. I've been married to by lovely wife Barbara for a bit over 24 years. Two kids, both college age.
Spent a very enjoyable, relaxing weekend visiting friends, enjoying Bay-Area hospitality, and attending the 2008 Dicken's Faire. This is first of at least two galleries of photos I'll be posting from the trip; this one devoted to the sights and feeling of the last show of the day.
For those that have never had the chance to attend Dicken's,Mad Sal's is a fictional Dockside bawdy-house in the heart of Victorian London. I was experimenting with low lighting and minimal (if any) flash in ord...

I'd like to present a quick introduction to my niece Kayla. She's a sophomore in H.S. and is currently running all over the local beaches in Seattle, training her photographer's eye and her skills with a camera. I think she's got a great deal of talent for this, but I'm a bit biased.
At any rate, I've built her her own gallery on my Smugmug site; please take a look at her stuff and leave any comments. It would mean a lot to her. Thanks!

Nothing puts a capper on a day like getting off the train in the evening and discovering that the bike rack where you locked up your bicycle that morning is now full of No-Bike.
Damn.

Setting the stage:
Yesterday morning, phone call with my wife - "Now you remember we have that thing at the Atheneum tonight, right?"
"Yeah. What was the topic again?"
"A reading of Arabic poetry by the new Professor..."
"!?!" <desperately tries to think if there's a way out of this. Nope, I'm trapped.> "Yeah, okay, I'll make sure I'm home on time."
Color me thrilled. An evening of poetry is bad enough, but poetry in a language I don't even *understand*?? Gawd, its gonna be a long ni...

Standing in line at the store, looking at the display of batteries ('cause there's not much else to look at); there's D, C, AA, and AAA sizes. Whatever happened to B and A size batteries?
Coming out of Vons, crossing the parking lot I see an *ahem* Extra-Medium lady in a white tank top with a slightly non-symmetrical profile and I think (with apologies to Jeff Foxworthy) "If you use your brassiere as a cell phone holster, you might just be a Redneck..."

Steve is one of the kindest and friendliest guys you will ever meet. He is a wonderful friend and I count myself very lucky to have met him.

Steve,
In the upcoming robot rebellion, in which humanity is finally enslaved, I will make sure that you end up as a pet of a robot who will treat you very humanely. You'll probably have to wear a pink furry collar and be carried around in a purse, but I'll do what I can, 'cause you're a great dude and we're friends. Friends look out for each other like that.

Steve is a very silly man. He will do nearly anything to make an ass of himself, as long as the end result is funny. The good news is, it usually is very funny indeed. He has a twisted sense of humor, and thank goodness.
On the flip side, he can be a quiet, thoughtful, and kind person with a great big brain. But you kind of have to get to know him first, at least a little, to get all that. Go on, get to know him - sidle up and buy the man a beer. Hell, buy him two beers, it isn't my money. You won't regret it.
