about me
By profession, I am an entrepreneur. I am in the process of earning my teaching credential. I am also a journalist, and freelance writer. I have lived in Japan, traveled to Korea, driven 30 hours straight without sleep, beaten a professional fencer at saber style, studied three forms of martial arts, and ran an antiquarian bookshop for fourteen years.
Once upon a time there was a man who dreamed he was a butterfly. He soared high in the sky and was dazzled by the colors of the earth. In flight he experienced true freedom and felt more free ever. Then he woke up and found himself a man, and was sad. Then, he realized that he could not be sure as to whether he was man who dreamed he was a butterfly, or a butterfly who was dreaming that he was a man.

Last night I was rereading a favorite fantasy novel, "Nobody's Son", by Canadian author, Sean Stewart. Towards the end, I cam across a paragraph that made me pause in wonder. In the book, Mark, is saying goodbye to his closest friend, who is returning to his own home to speak to his estranged father. The passage reads thusly: "How much of life is like this?...Is that what being grown up means? Saying goodbye as often as hello? More to wave back to with every step."
