before you walk away
show me the smile that says
i'm not alone
you see what you want in me
because
This crazy life
This crazy life is my home
We are the winners
If we unclose our eyes
The feeling's not what it seems
The healing waits in our sky
waits in our sky

Pilates 2the People
www.pilates2thepeople.com
Health care and knowledge are privileges in this society. We are sooner encouraged to die of cancer, diabetes or heart disease, addicted to any 10 substances, including grease, sugar & preservatives, than we are taught to be healthy or given easy access to things that will keep us healthy. Our postures and movements are no exception! And, yeah, it’s way worse the more oppressed you are.
Pilates isn’t going to fix everything, only revolution will do that. But in the meantime, and to help us get there, Pilates can get us stronger, healthier, & smarter about our bodies, helping us move in the ways that life demands, pain free & powerful, at whatever level of activity (physical therapy, walking, dancing, marital arts, etc.)
Pilates is not just a form of exercise (which, to some, looks like an active form of yoga), it’s a method of studying the body and working towards over all musculo-skeletal health. Pilates can increase your mobility, stability, strength and flexibility. Take 6 classes in a row to feel what I mean!
Pilates to the People uses the proceeds above cost from regular priced sessions to provide Pilates to those who cannot otherwise afford Pilates. Get healthy and spread the love!

The Bunch of Words:
Pilates is an exercise method that focuses on a combination of developing body control, awareness, strength and flexibility. It works all parts of the body in a focused manner and puts strong emphasis on the "core". The "core" is all of the abdominal and back muscles and, in Pilates, includes muscles that work on the shoulder girdle, pelvic girdle & neck. Effective use of Pilates results in an increase of all over strength, range of motion, stability, & control. It counters the effects of gravity on the body and is excellent for serious athletic cross training as well as recovering from injuries. (It should NOT replace physical therapy but can greatly aid in it during and after physical therapy treatment.)
I am resisting the urge to gloat and pontificate about Pilates. I will stop here. Pilates is dope, though! Its worth looking into if you've ever been even a little interested. :)
here is a website where you can learn more about Pilates, although I must warn you that it won't be what you expected no matter what you read. www.pilatesmethodalliance.org/wha...html
here is the certification program I took:

when you can feel all the anger - not just the anger that floats to the surface, but the rage that weighs anchor in your belly, the removal of which, from all bellies, is reason enough for anything
including
reason
to feel all the joy to be had from every tiny struggle and victory, even the medium ones and even the super-sized ones; beads of human potential gathering like rain on the window; incremental bits of soul restoring tonic for all who know how to take it....
feel me?
(‘cause when you don't feel me, when you don't feel me at all, i let go a little each time, small dead animals falling from my heart )
when you do
the rain drops pool
and our bellies are soothed
and the next day, the next struggle, the next victory, the next death
is clearer, ¿claro?
our determination, mas fuerte
our hearts, con mas cariño.

arize is well worth knowing as a friend. She is observant and truthful but always kind, emotionally present without intrusion, intelligent, political and sharp without arrogance.
But as a Pilates instructor, she has that rarest of gifts: she sees you--how you carry yourself and move through your own existence, and she shows you how to know yourself, as you are, from the inside. Most exercise instructors show you some movements, but arize shows you how to move in the way your body was meant to--from your own core of strength and point of balance. She is funny, compassionate and incredibly helpful. Within an hour she had me connecting with my own body in ways that months of yoga never did. She showed me how to work muscles I rarely used, and free up sections of my spine that had been so stiff for so long I thought that was their natural state. I was never once, as I usually am, hesitant or in doubt about my own capacity to accomplish what she asked of me--even though some of it was technically fairly difficult, because she inspires confidence.
She is one of the best instructors in mind-body connection that I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Even though we are the same age, she is the kick ass older sister I never had.

this beautiful soulful woman blessed me with the most extraordinary gift.....
70 miles away from where she lives... I was quietly crashing emotionally in the throes of a break-up. She sensed this, and simply asked if I needed company...
She shows up at my door like a dreadlocked Mary Poppins: with 6 bags of groceries, and she mutha-effin' COOKED for me- stocked my house up with all kinds of wild and wonderfully delicious foods....rice wine, soba noodles, fresh mushroom broth for the DELISH shitaake mushroom soup she made, fresh corn tortillas, delicious black beans, a fat jar of fresh squeezed ginger juice, a quart of my own personally mixed, healing herbal tea blend, all kinds of veggies and fruit (mmm...asian pears with thinly sliced pecorino!!) and cheeses....
I felt so undeserving of that kind of selfless generosity and lovin' from the heart.
I'm still blown away by it...
she so filled my cup to overfloweth...
lucky I am.
lucky are those who get to really know this fiery-quiet, ingelligent, thoughtful loving arize...

mistress of pilates! (or pie-lattes?)
the longer i know you the more i love you!
pisquarian woman ...strong, intelligent yet unapologetically curious and real..geeky, sexy, compassionate, creative...and motivated...oh i can go on it would take a day...
or longer...
she'd make the perfect partner in crime.. she's my alter ego-parallel universe... here, next to me, in this plane of existance, minus the distance...i feel safe confiding in her...nor do i ever feel like i need to make excuses, or tailor myself to fit.
some days tho i'd wish to click my heels three time and be transported closer, in person, we could go discover something unexplored, unseen, forgotten by the mere mortals in san francisco...
i have a feeling i'd never get bored...i haven't so far, in over a year of knowing her here...she has captured my attention, unobtrusively yet steadily, and that's not easy cuz my attention is normally short lived...and this testimonial has become unusually lenghtly ...........see?
*muah!*

this gal is the real dealo, a revolutionary working under camouflage of artist to subvert the moldy mainstream agendas of narcissistic consumerism towards restoring community, of common-unity among people everywhere, tragically lost in the mess that too much society has made of things. she knows it's an uphill battle and she knows it can't be done alone. i salute your courage and tenacity.
When AT&T advertises Dreadlocks on their home page on the internet, does that mean that I can get a normal job wearing these things now?

as per my last blog, I wrote this definition for the word Exotificaiton. Please scrutinize it. :)
exotification
The act of treating an object or person as if they are exotic, usually because the object or person possesses qualities that are unfamiliar to the person doing the exotification, and/or because the object or person possesses qualities that deviate from the dominant culture or tradition in which the object or person being exotified is found.
The act of exotification objectif...

in his home country he is not all that good looking. in fact some call him ugly. on top of having a big round head, fleshy facial features and slightly uneven brown skin, he is 6ft. tall and "big boned" which leaves him towering over his countrymen.
it's when he comes here, to the United States, and people get dazzled with his "other"ness that he becomes pretty to those to whom he is "other".
around these parts, we call it "exotification". your spell checker doesn't have this word in it's...

no really. I have never been described (to my face) as being creepy. Am I? I mean "creepy" can be a pretty subjective thing, and its also not necessarily a bad thing. Its kind of like a tool for the tool box. Its nice to know that you can whip out the cordless creepular saw when you need it. so this woman told me my OK Cupid profile was creepy to her and I can't, for the life of me, figure out *why*!
Would you please tell me if you can see things that would creep someone out about my...

from an okcupid profile:
"I have a dead garden. I own thousands of records and sometimes play them in bars, restaurants, or clubs. I love to sleep. I learned to make sushi by watching the chef at Blowfish. I cook four-star meals, but don't read cookbooks. I brew my own beer. I don't own a TV. I try to go to the gym at least 3 times a week. I have a snake named "kitten". Red meat sometimes makes me ill. I'm addicted to Ricola breath mints."

But I'm not the Chinese government.
I remember when Mao died there was a coup de tat that ended socialism there after a twisted up civil war that was only partly fought with guns (exponentially fewer guns and less death than US propaganda will ever let you know) called The Cultural Revolution. Deng Xiao Ping and the US propaganda machine claimed it was still communism even tho during the Cultural Revolution, Deng Xiao Ping was the #1 "capitalist roader", and now it is clear that China is de...
