My name is Elaine, although most know me online by my nickname "Valerian". I've been involved in the alternative/punk/Goth scene since 1983, and have been an artist since I was old enough to grip a solid object. I design costume jewelry, hats, and handbags with a dark, romantic, vintage-flavoured Victorian Gothic flair, as well as paint stylized portraits of the alternative nightlife scene. In fact you could genuinely describe me as having one foot in the 19th century, and one in the 21st. What started out as a love of art history and portrait painting evolved into historically-influenced fashion with a dark modern edge - what you see here is just a taste of my mania.

Something a little Steampunk-friendly, which may be a real bonus to those who don't normally wear warm tones (like me!). Most Steampunk stuff I've come across is gold, brown and copper coloured, and although I love the concept of Steam fashion I can't wear warm, tawny shades - my pasty skin tone just starts to look weird next to them. So... mostly silver with "a touch of brass", a new earring design featuring minature faux clockface cabochons: ![]() The faces have metallic gold trim which is picked up nicely by the small gold-lined clear glass beads and the filigree-capped gold glass faux pearls. 6 pairs currently available, and although I hope they can be a regularly stocked item, the clockface cabs are in rather erratic supply so they may end up being a "periodically" stocked item instead. Yes, this may be a case of "STEAMPUNK - UR DOING IT WRONG" because there's no rust or time-worn corroded finishing here... but SteamFail or not, I like making classy earrings. :P originally published at Art of Adornment
