Airing on CUNY TV Fridays at 7:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 10:30 PM You can also watch the show online at: www.artorsomethinglikeit.com A Smiley-faced figure waves and welcomes the viewer into a virtual gallery, a place where video portraits of New York City artists hang on the walls. Welcome to the world of ART or something like it!, an energetic TV series that combs the boroughs of New York City to provide weekly exposure to artists young and old. The new series of 13 half-hour programs features artists of all genres, backgrounds and media – music, performance, writing, painting, photography, sculpture, film & video, and more – who share their lives and work. The first season features: The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, Zero Boy, Bill Etra, Heru, Shakerleg, Benton C. Bainbridge, St. Reverend Jen, Laura Thomas, things outside the skin, Langhorne Slim, The Green Circus, Dyestra Brown, Big Brooklyn Red, Nick Zedd, Angel Eyedealism, Lyndon McCray, S. Kaye Klein, Tyler Fyre, and many more New York based artists. “I wanted to create a television series that would benefit the artists involved, as well as the viewers,” said creator/producer/editor/artist Brian A. Bernhard. “As an artist myself, I know how important exposure is. ART or something like it! supplies the artists with a much needed public platform, while inspiring, educating, and introducing viewers to the world of art.” At four segments per program, a total of 52 artists are featured in the series’ first season. Due to the large amount of requests I have decided to begin posting each episode of "ART or something like it!" online. We will begin with the first episode and work our way up to the current episode, then we will premiere each episode online as it airs on CUNY TV.
