I'm putting off the packing that I have to do and I'm doing a great job. My dad comes to Savannah on Wed., and we take off on Thursday for Columbus. I made a pretty picture for my blog though.

Take me back Oakland!

I moved to Oakland from Chicago 10 years ago. I never meant to stay that long in one place and I never did the SF to Oakland thing.

Coming from Chicago, I just couldn't see spending all that $$ to be a roomate and be out by the SF Zoo.

I moved directly from Chicago to Berkely, then moved to Oakland from Berkeley about 6 months later. Then I became a permanet Oakland resident for the rest of the time I was in California.

I think I hit the saturation point with Oakland in my last year or two living there. I moved from 5th ave and 21st to 18th and International. Bigger digs on International and a lovely old apartment building. Bonus points for being 2 streets over from the best damm mechanic ever and having a kick ass Veitnamese takeout joint a half a block away. On top of all of that, I was just a few doors down from Jalisco's, which has the BEST CARNITAS you will ever have in your life.

Then, life on International took over as well as all the fun expenses that come with living in California such as jacked up housing prices, more traffic than the city could handle, the smog, the homeless people everywhere and I'm out of school with no real job offers.

Off I went to Savannah. I thought I could leave Oakland and be sane. I really really did. First, I missed the produce, then I missed the city of Oakland itself and my friends and the dog parks, and all the different kinds of people that make up Oakland.

Then the really really scary politics of Georgia that I'd been trying to ignore really started making me re-think the whole idea of living in the south even though I am a "naturalized" Texan.

So, I'm out of Savannah at the beginning of August and moving (don't know how long I'll stay) to Columbus Ohio. My parents have lived there for 6 years and I can't go back to Oakland since I'm really flat assed broke right now.

If I can't get back to Oakland, I'm still thinking West Coast but maybe Washington. Oregon or Idaho.

Well, thanks to your comments, I can think about a couple of other red headed guys that are waay more attractive than David Carusoe.

This one makes me happier than the last collage.
