Girls Love BASS!!!
Sun, February 18, 2007 - 12:53 PMLast year was a TOUGH year. But a person begins realize that regardless of what happens, you can learn and grow and be a stronger person for everything. So I'm taking that to heart and manifesting good things.
2007 is a much better year already! I went to see the Mermen play at Moe's Alley on February 2nd. It just happened to be my birthday--oh yeah!! The Shitones opened and did the entire Endless Summer soundtrack. The Mermen played their entire recording "Krill Slippin" (circa 1989), so needless to say the ocean was the theme of the evening. My friend Jeniblue brought in a REAL hula dancer and made a volcano cake (a real cake) that erupted and smoked. She also gave me a beautiful handmade lei. I also got outrageously yummy moon pie cookies from Jennalex, a beautiful drawing from Jaime that she made from a photo of us in the desert (and a miniature purple furry art car!!), seashells, a tiki mug--just so much cool stuff--and last but not least a BASS guitar from The Mermaid herself. (Now I've got to learn to play it!) It was the Mermen's bass player Allen's birthday the day before, so I brought him a fruit tart and a tuberose lei. Jim got each of us a cake, so we had LOTS of cake :) I was so overwhelmed by everything that I kept wanting to go and hide, but I was having too much fun. The very best gift I got was to have so many friends with me and hear the music that sends me into orbit. I felt like a little kid in a candy store!
We rented a big house on West Cliff where about 10 of us stayed, and spent the early hours after the show and all the next day on the patio overlooking the ocean, drinking beer (or tequila), watching the surfers, eating barbequed oysters. The weather was beautiful and hanging out there was so awesome. It was crazy and wild and the BEST birthday of my life!
I am so grateful for friends and love and the blessings of the universe. My goal is to give as much love and aloha to others as I possibly can.
