absinthe......

for years i'd read about the wonders of the green fairy......the famous authors and artists who became addicted......all about it's wondrous properties....the rituals...the visions.....

what i never read about, however, was it's taste........i would love to say that it's marvelous.....that i could savor it forever.....but in all truth i must admit, it makes me GAG......

hideous stuff...*unless, of course, you like licorice....to me it's like drinking liquid licorice (and i have always hated licorice)...

i've heard you can get it in other flavors....i'm definitely gonna check that out because, regardless of the taste, i find myself craving the particular buzz it gives me....one good strong drink and i'm hilariously plastered.....but it feels more akin to being high rather than drunk....

and i love the rituals with the sugar cubes and special spoons and all the hoopla surrounding it.....

yes, i'll definitely be drinking more absinthe......

i just read where a 2 year old girl was bitten and strangled in her crib by her mom's boyfriend's pet python which apparently escaped it's terranium..........

now, to begin with i have not a thing against snakes......i've even been known to help a few of them across the raod when i've seen them straddling the middle of it just waiting for a joyous snake hater to drive them over......and to those of you that have them as pets, i'm sorry...but i just don't think they are pet material...snakes are wild animals...they act on instinct...and yes, i know there are people who have had them for years without incident, but i also know of dealy beloved pet pythons and boas attacking owners for seemingly no reason....

pets are dogs, cats, hamsters and such.......wild animals should be left to the wild....

i guess this just really got to me for several reasons....one is that i really don't think certain animals should be kept as pets.....and the 2nd thing is that i cannot imagine the terror this child must have felt...the article said there were bite marks on her head and she was dead when they found her.....it was a large snake too...it probably would have eaten her if given time.....*that is their normal thing to do.....i just feel sickened by this.....
