fear of hitting the keys...
minutes stretch between short lines - -
afraid tappings will
amount to fingerpainting
with ineffectual transparent shit
and the lonely grey-and-white house cat
feeds me a line,
boldly stepping upon rows
of contemporary glyphs:
0000000000000000000000llllllllllllllllll///////.///
- - then jumps away to stalk
a light brown date-sized winged cockroach,
leaving me on my own
to finish
this.

Love the Poem
First poem I have read that relays our poetic communicato over cyber keys, and isn't it the Truth! Brilliant!!! and I adore your cat, animals have such a unique way of reminding us of the simpler means in expression, lol.
I have had parrots, mostly Quakers and I had these two, Rocky [short for Rachmoninoff] and Carmen, they would hate it when I would spend hours at the computer. One summer day I had to go out and usually would take them on the excursions but this was one time I couldn't. Needless to say, this pissed them off a great deal, and when I returned home, every single key on the PC keyboard was ripped to shreds, gray bubble matter and all, lay on the floor. Rocky was sitting on top of my chair bobbing his head up and down laughing at me, while Carman was dancing across the keyboard with complete abandonment. It was then I realized that the old paper and pencil was a much more appropriate means to writing poetry, lol, and much cheaper to replace. LOL I've have not been able to come up with a poem on the computer since then, and your work here describes it so eloquently. Do you think our animals may be telling us something??? LOL Modotti |
