My Events

Saturday Satsang and Nonduality discussion (events » community) Saturday, January 19, 2008 - 9:00 AM Satsang is a Sanskrit word; sat means true or being and sanga means company or gathering. More specifically, satsang means a gathering about the Truth of the essence of our Being.

Satsang offers the opportunity for a community of people to come together in stillness and share "presence". It is like how a tuning fork that is struck will make duplicate tuning forks of the same note vibrate as well through resonance. Our essence of Being is the same and it is that which resonates.

Satsang often begins with the group sitting in silence and meditating for 10 - 20 minutes, followed by Eric speaking with those present. The format we follow is the dialectic method, which is a question and answer format...as opposed to a lecture. Sometimes Eric will speak about a topic to start things off, but participating by asking questions that come up will help you get the most out of satsang.

See www.awaken2life.org for more details.

“Many people think that enlightenment is an altered state of consciousness. Actually, what we perceive every day through the distorted lens of ego is the truly altered state – we see things that don’t exist, we believe things that aren’t happening, and we live in a false world of our own creation.”

~ Adyashanti, The End of Your World

“Do not think that the Buddhas are other than you.”

~Dogen

This conference is about exploring awakening in very tangible ways. It is not theoretical, but rather a very personal and real examination of what may presently stand in the way of your own awakening.

In each moment, you can choose to try to control and understand the “dream” you live in, or to focus instead on awakening from that dream. For in that dream you remain a constant prisoner of your own mind, beliefs, thoughts and fears -- a character in your own story.

To awaken is why you came to earth. It is both your design function and birthright as a human being. Yet while your mind wants you to believe that talking, reading and thinking about awakening will result in your waking up, this journey is not an exercise in “getting better.” It is not easy or even logical. There are no rules. It cannot be undertaken through intellectual exercises, discussions or concepts – for it embodies a surrender that transforms life itself.
