Simply Amazing

One year ago, Greensburg, Kansas looked like this.

In a inspirational story of how good things can come from tragedy, the town is rebuilding. They are not just rebuidling, however. They are rebuilding in a big way. They are taking their time. Instead of just rebuilding as fast as possible and putting everything just as it was before, they are rebuilding "green." Wind turbines and solar panals now are starting to sprout. I even heard that at least one large aquduct is planned to place under the street pavement to hold captured rain water. This water will be used partly to irrigate the new road side trees that are also planned.

For more details, go here: www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/05.../#cnnSTCVideo

I should like to point out, also, that the first totally enviromentally friendly GreenTown (first that I'm aware of, anyway) is in ultra conservative rural Kansas.

Whoever says Kansas is a "backwards" state should reconsider . . . .
