My Blog

I arrived in a whiteout dust storm. When the dust settled I was at my new home. A paper tree grew in the desert lit by the sun in the daytime and an inflatable moon at night. It stood strong through the wind and dust. Monday evening the last thing we did was burn it on the remains of the man. I am sad to see it go but happy for the experience and renewal it has brought me.

I thank everyone who I met and admired my creation. I especially thank my new family who have taken me in and helped t... read more

With the help of some friends my art project "The paper Tree Ver. 2.0" will be making the journey. I have a few details still to work out like lights but it is pretty much complete and ready to be packed up for the trip. Making my first journey to Burning man and taking my a... read more

After burning the paper tree I started recieving messages from people online who wanted to see it. Some even responded that they wished I had not burned it. My apartment felt empty without it. So I started rolling paper int tubes a branch was born. A friend called and said she had just found an 8' cardboard tube that would be perfect for the trunk. A few days later the tree is reborn and growing bigger everyday.

When I viewed "Beyond Black Rock" I was inspired by the artists journeys of... read more

Early Sunday morning a spontaneuos group of individuals decided it was time. Paper is harder to burn than you think. It turns out the tree was more alive than we thought. It resisted attempts with lighters and camping fuel. Fortunately we are a creative group and a kind soul with a hand made flamethrower was nearby. After a minute of torching the tree finally gave in. It was beautiful to see it released. The time and energy to construct it was worth it.

I am sad to see it go. But happy a... read more

On April 18th My creative obsession will go on display. Two days later it will be gone. Destroyed by fire it will again be reborn. From seed to tree. Tree to paper. Paper to tree. Tree to energy. Energy to ?

Matter can not be destroyed. It may ... read more
