For the love of Bunnies, and Cats, and Dogs

So I was a part of this wonderful fundraiser set up by the wonderful, amazing, and talented Afsana Sisters. IT was a great experiance, the audience was very receptive and were a lot of fun to play off of. This was my first oppertunity to kind of sit back on my heels and see what I could come up with in terms of a real tribal fusion piece. I stole from Miss B, Bassnectars' "Snake Charma". For once I didn't have sometime telling me that I was just trying to be Rachel Brice or that I was copying The Indigo. I was truly amazed. I had people who wanted to take their picture with me, of me, and talk to me. They were saying that I was one of the best dancers they had seen in a long time. That they were inspired and wanted me to do a fusion workshop so that they could learn to move like me. I was confused for Darshan and called Minnesotas; version of Rachel and the Indigo. I walked away from this fundraiser, not only feeling like I was doing something realy positive for my community but that I had actually accomplished what I had set out to do. I entertained those who came to the show and they loved it. I feel like I am finally coming into my own here in the dance community. I'm really on cloud nine as far as that is concerned.

Feeling like a chicken with my head cut off

I think that every dancer on the face of the planet can understand what I am going through right now. In the month of April I have the Guild show and I am dancing at the Morocccan show at the Landmark center at the end of the month as well. I am a little overwhelmed by the Moroccan show. I have to learn two new types of dance in two weeks. The cane dance were doing, though I have never done cane before, is rather easy and I have that one almost down. The moroccan solo I am putting together is, well.... a little more of a challenge. I have no idea how moroccan bellydance differs from tribal or egyptian. And I am doing it as a solo.....any advice would be nice. I'm only drowning slightly. :-)

Over loaded with Kuchi jewelry

So as I am sitting here I am glancing nervously and my heapingly piled desk. Now when I say heapingly piled I mean I haven't be able to find my desk since I moved several months ago. It is piled almost 18 inches high with jewelry and belts and hair falls and project this and project that and well.....my fiance is getting rather tired with all of the jewelry. So I must go through this weekend and depart with a lot of it. I'm obviously going to pick out certain things for myself....who am I kidding, I am female after all.....but then the rest needs to find a good home. So I am hoping through the help of Tribe, Craiglist, and Myspace that I will be able to get some orders, fill them, and send my jewelry to a loving home where it will be used and danced with. I just need to put some tendrils out and start this whole process.
