about me
I love acting, words, movement and music. During professional training and through struggling initially with movement I bought and used for about a year a childs hoop. I did ok with the hoop, I didn't know about hoop dance so thought waist hooping was it! After much research and practice I've acquired a nice vocabulary of moves. I have a physical flaw which I thought would hinder me and it turns out the opposite is true, I do have limitations but engaging my imagination and finding adaptations often means I can do almost everything I try to learn. I'm a hoop dance instructor in my area and working hard to raise it's profile. I never have viewed hoop dance as exercise and I link it more to movement than fitness/sport, I prefer to see the links with Alexander Technique and the movement practices I acquired at drama school, hooping is more of a way of life to me, a healing and a route to spiritual growth. I use it with acting when I learn lines and I use it with voice work too! My hoops are just as precious as my Shakespeare and Neil LaBute Plays!
I'm here to meet more people who enjoy similar things to me. I want to forge friendships, learn, share, be inspired and enlightened. I'm hoping to be welcomed and share many smiles, all in the name of love and imagination!
