In Muslim, Sahira means "earth, moon, spring which flows constantly." I chose this not only because I am an Earth sign astrologically, but I believe my body is one with the environment. In Arabic, it means "wakeful" and in Indian, "mountain."
I started bellydancing in 2003 during my freshman year of college under the instruction of Radhiya Taj. After 5.5 years, I have been empowered by bellydancing and encourage other women to try it. I was quickly thrown into learning how to sew. Even though I am not very good at it, I still take pride in my work. I love my ball python, Emir, which means "charming prince" in Arabic.
I graduated 2 years ago and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry with Honors. I am grateful to have found a full time position as a Research Technician II in oncology at a major university. I hope to enter into a PhD program within the next 2 years.
