an interesting phenomenon in language acquisition is that, when in a French-speaking country, if someone speaks to me I automatically reply in Spanish, since I basically have no speaking French at all. Si! I mean... Oui!
I can get by reading, however.

Now I can also say "I am a grapefruit" (je suis un pampelmuse!)

I had this raspberry and pistachio creme shortbread in Paris the other day and it was awesome.

Neato Facto
Ever wonder why people say "Pardon my French" after they swear?

I found out the origin of this phrase is that it was considered inherently embarrassing to say anything in French (at least to a Brit).
It IS high-pitched and sing-songy with plenty of spit-rattling. Can you blame them? It is so beautiful though. :)

Hope you are having a great time, KT!

be glad that french and spanish are (albeit somewhat distantly) related! It's really a problem when I start speaking Kiswahili in europe or central america!

When I tried to learn German after 6 years of French, I had a lot of confusing moments. The funniest part what that I spoke German with a French accent*. My teacher even noticed it.

*I'm sure I had an American accent, but my r's and my vowels were French.
