Stress does seem to be able to cause the odd cutting to flower in certain situations, imminent death does seem like a good reason for doing so but laying a cutting down for a week wouldn't be long enough, my guess is it would have flowered no matt...

The flowering hormones seem to be triggered by a combination of cool temperatures and sunlight in winter.
