Family Reunion Approaching
Thu, July 26, 2007 - 12:03 AMI've been doing a lot of internal preparation on how to be with my family, how I can relate with them on a deeper level. I've been gifted a few gems through this process. One is to really just be inquisitive with them, to ask them about there hopes, fears and dreams growing up. This will be essential to how I relate with them and will be a great practice of just listening.
Two is to share more openly about who I really am and what excites me about Life. I've realized through preparing for this that I've shut down around expressing myself to my family due to fears of being judged. At the last family reunion I was just coming out of my days of pot, ecstasy, acid and raves, so it was difficult to relate about my Life but now I'm excited about so many bodily activities like massage, contact improv, yoga, watsu, water dance, which are all things that I can share with them through being tactile in how I'm explaining it. One of my main practices while sharing with them is to not judge them when I know they're judging me, which is a great practice in Life.
I also plan on writing a letter to the whole family which I've never done so writing what I'm writing right now is helping, thanks for reading...

Brian, I was raised in a deeply religious family, Southern Baptist. My experience with Christianity has been brutal, and cruel and I have been judged harshly. I so admire your willingness to be with them, and willingness to try to communicate with them, relate. Since there are times I have no choice but to be with them, I am going to take your tools with me and do what I can to apply them. Thank you!

Acceptance
Learning tolerance and acceptance as a part of Love and Life, is ultimately the foundation of any Religion when taken in the true context of teachings. Religion tends to find hidden meaning, the fine line between Poetic Justice and Poetic License.
When You yourself Love and Accept other people Who may judge You, You already have more understanding to what it may mean to be a Christian more so than the people you feel are passing judgement on to you. Enjoy Your time Reunioning with your Blood Family and connect with your heritage. Everyone is born free to choose the Religion of their own; leading to the formation of Your own Churches, Congregations, Friends, Ways of Life, Lifestyles, and the Family. Colorado is beautiful , I also have Family Out there to reunion with and regain core lineage strength. |

Brian, I find that we think we know what people are thinking about us but are we right? I used to feel the same as you but later in life, I found out that my family admired me. Imagine how that made me feel.
They probably will be excited to know about your life and how you life it. Be open and honest and just watch as they gravitate to you. I love that you have a plan for reaching out to them. What a novel ideal. I wish you a great trip and lot of fun getting back to your roots. Oh and just so you know. Christ loves you kiddo. :) |
