The Sunset Hookah Lounge Band is a modern ensemble playing traditional Arabic and Turkish music. Pulling from our eclectic background, the Sunset Hookah Lounge Band also explores the spirit of the moment through original improvisational music. The Sunset Hookah Lounge Band (or SHLB for less of a mouthful), is often joined by a professional dancer- sometimes a guest artist and often one of our own!
The SHLB evolved when some members of Loud Zoo (an improvisational music and tribal bellydance troupe) took an interest in traditional Middle Eastern music. Looking towards more traditional music roots, the SHLB formed to explore the orchestration and melodic delights of Middle Eastern music.
Playing along Florida’s beautiful Suncoast, we can be found at local events, such as the Arabian Nights Hafla, The Harem Nights Halfa, Hip-Expressions studio sponsored events, outdoor festivals, and every Saturday night at Upham Beach…or lusting after shiny things.
