By nature wolves are territorial. They need to feel safe with an area they can call home. When home is invaded, as with most species such as humans, they feel threatened and will defend their home. They are so beautiful but I think they are widely misunderstood. People view wolves as dangerous creatures, but truly they are not, they are as we say... only human? ;)

Agreed !
Yes ! Well Said ! I will start taking " Bear Bangers with me when I go out there. They are harmless to bears or potentially wolves as they only create a percussive explosion to repel a bold or aggressive animal. They may simply be curious about me but better to be safe..........and in the end they will remain unharmed if I felt compelled to use them.

I wonder if it helps to make a little extra noise when you are hiking in, so you don't startle them. I've been taught that works with bears who really don't like being surprised. Bangers would be my first check for self defense followed by pepper spay and only led as a last resort.
Oh and of course by bangers I don't mean sausages.... but who knows, that might actually work :) |

Do you mean you could outrun the sausages or the wolves while they are busy eating the sausages?
When I was working in the airlines some of the flights went to Alaska. I remember hearing one of the captains telling a story about a guy who was on his way home from a bar and realized he was being followed by a polar bear. He started taking off items of clothing and leaving them on the ground. The polar bear was curious and spent some time with each of the garments before starting to follow the man again. By the time man got back he was naked. Of course there is some doubt about the stories because the man was drunk and naked when he first told it. And I heard it from one of the captains while we were drinking..... |
