Hi! I'm a therapist living in Portland, Oregon which is a beautiful, cozy, and inspiring city. I tend to see life as marvelously sacred and marvelously wild, sort of like fire shooting out of your ears at midnight. I'm in the process of starting my first business here in Portland and really enjoing it so far. Before that, I lived in the Middle East and Eastern Europe and spent two wonderful years in Bulgaria as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Then I came back and worked as Senior Recruiter for the U.S. Peace Corps for a few years, running their recruiting campaigns for the California coast cities and encouraging as many people as possible to abandon ship and join. Maybe thats because I've always sensed that those who never risk themselves never quite fully become themselves either.

It doesn't interest me if there is one God Or many gods. I want to know if you belong -- or feel abandoned; If you know despair Or can see it in others. I want to know If you are prepared to live in the world With its harsh need to change you; If you can look back with firm eyes Saying "this is where I stand." I want to know if you know how to melt Into that fierce heat of living Falling toward the center of your longing. I want to know if you are willing To li... read more

with heavy loads on her back and sometimes just with worries about things that bother only burros. And worries, as we know, can be more exhausting than physical labor. Once in a while a kind monk comes to her stable and brings a pear, but more than that, he looks into the burro's eyes and touches her ears and for a few seconds the burro is free and even seems to laugh, because love does that. there is no judge, no jury, no plaintiff. This is a caravan, filled with eccentric beings telling wondrous stories about God. ~ Saadi ~ Your great mistake is to act the drama as if you were alone. As if life were a progressive and cunning crime with no witness to the tiny hidden transgressions. To feel abandoned is to deny the intimacy of your surroundings. Surely, even you, at times, have felt the grand array; the swelling presence, and the chorus, crowding out your solo voice. You must note the way the soap dish enables you, or the window latch grants you freedom. Alertness is the hidden discipline of fam... read more
