Monday brought my first class of 2008 - in regards to teaching that is!

I had attended a wonderful workshop in Montreal on Saturday and Sunday with Amrita, Hadia and Jalila Zamora { she and I laughed at how I have to travel to Montreal to take a class with her!] I was very impressed with the information shared by all three teachers, and the techniques we learned and practiced. Amazing experience, even though it set me up to be stiff and sore for my own first night of teaching <grin>

Lots of new faces and lots of return faces - always a great mix, and I always look forward to the energy that comes from connecting with such powerful ladies! I am a bit of a go with the flow teacher in that I like to see who is in the class and what level of dance they are at and where I can push and where we can relax and have fun. It always develops into a different adventure every session so it really adds to my own journey as a dancer!

It promises to be an interesting year with a focus on technique and some choreography - but challenging myself to remain creative and get a good workout myself during class will be the best thing of all. And it will trickle down into those shiny happy faces - or "grimacing in concentration" faces :-)

Now to curl up on my couch for a little while while my own muscles heal after last night's final classes of the week!
