but the fickle fairy of fate has pissed on the fire, extinguishing the flames, and ending my plans to pop my burning man cherry. it is just not gonna happen. so i can continue to look down my nose at those wayward playa participants heading off to Hightimes & 1:30 for their green tea extract and organic yak yogurt high colonic or those heading to Burnout & 4:00 to have a sensual internal organ massage with lilac honey & stinging nettles from a hairy knuckled drag queen. Woo Hoo - Marcus took Winner's Dog Friday at the Great Dane Club of Nevada's Specialty Show in Las Vegas... it was a 5 point major which is exactly how many points he needed to finish! we are very happy - cost me a bottle of dom perignon - but we drank it with hot dogs! - so it wasn't too decadent!

dateline - paso robles... first stop Bianchi...wonderful wine - great hook - buy $300 worth of wine and they have a 3 bedroom house you get to stay in for one night...they have a great koi pond and the house has barbeque...lots of fun... plus the wine was great - they had a wonderful Sangiovevse... yup, guess who became a member and - qualifies for a 'free' night in the house. from there to Robert Hall - i like this winery...just bought a few bottles there...a great port. from there - we headed out - to some odd ball places...Wild Coyote - nice place in the hills - great looking pueblo style architecture...ok wine... then Justin - what a wonderful place...bought several bottles there - a friend with us became a member - so we got a nice break - orphan was awesome... then we had to cover our driver - stopped at Firestone Brewery...had a nice porter there... then to our hotel in san luis obispo...we thought we should go to dinner - so into slo - Mother's wherre they had a bagpipe band...we went upstairs for a passable meal...i had a steak - tough but flavorful...mrs barsnake judges st patrick's day by the corned beef and she is almost always dissappointed. this was no exception...they had run out. us older folks went back to the motel - the more daring ventured out to get thrown out of applebee's - the rowdies. sunday was our day to go to the more established wineries... Wildhorse,,,ok - nothing special... we split up here - some went to martin weyrich which i don't like we went right to Eberle...which i love...down in the caves drinking library zins from 96 to 06...awesome...plus they had a nice bbq - gary eberle cooking ribs and duck sausage...then we got out our larder...several cheeses, meats, nuts, and crackers...all with bottles of eberle's cabernet and full boar. from there to chumeia - i love this little winery - i highly recommend it - awesome cabernets - great pinot noir - wonderful port and a nice blend called oddysean...spent some money there... then to Tobin James to close out our weekend...i am not a big tbin james fan - but i like the stop - and i like toby...he was there and we nice little chat...we sat on the porch, drank a good pinot and ate a scharfen berger dark chocolate bar... then back home...we rode with friends in their motor home - which will be the topic of my next blog - oh shit!

We got to SF Friday evening and got our rig set up...had dinner and a few cocktails. got up early and got to our appointed bench in time to decorate. the dogs had to be at the bench area at 10AM...we didn't show until 1:45. Toby, far right, took Best in Breed and went to Working Group - Val, 2nd from right, got Best Bred by Owner - and took a 2nd placement in Bred by in Working Group on Saturday. Pink, 2nd from left, took Winner's Bitch on Sunday - she only needs one point to get her Championship! Grace, far left, won her class - but did not do well in Winner's Bitch. Oh well, There's more shows coming. Had a good weekend - got home 1AM Monday morning.

After a hiatus for holidays, puppies, and other excuses...we are starting to gear back up on our dog show circuit. this weekend is Ventura - at the fairgrounds...Danes are at a reasonable time this go around - around 10 AM on both Sat & Sun... so if you are in the area... next week end is my favorite - Daly City...the Cow Palace - big bench show...we're going to get in Friday - and show Sat & Sun - we'll be at our assigned bench all of both of those days... http://sanfrancisco.heyletsgo.com/event-105985 stop by if you can...i met deb the librarian there last year!
