about me
Basswerks is the home of several artists and culture-philes. We love art, music, film, and culture and connecting with other creators and culture-lovers in LA and beyond. We are lucky enough to have some open space in Mid-City LA to use for this purpose. If you'd like to stay informed on upcoming events and other projects here, add Basswerks as a friend or just keep your eye on this page.

The Haps

Kurt Cobain's body was found on this day 13 years ago. What happened? Did Courtney do it? We may never know. What we do know is this: On this thirteenth anniversary of that fateful day that grunge cried, we will be firing up a beautiful BBQ made by Basswerks Artist Jason Saunders and gathering an ungodly amount of electronic equipment in our AV lounge for some realtime AudioVisual madness.

FREE * ANYONE CAN PLAY * EVERYONE CAN WATCH * BRING SOMETHING TO BBQ!

We've done psychedelic.
We've done artsy.
We've done comedy.
Now we are doing something a little more serious.

This month's movie night will feature "Loose Change 2nd Edition." Here's a description from the film's website:
"'Loose Change 2nd Edition' is the follow-up to the most provocative 9-11 documentary on the market today.
This film shows direct connection between the attacks of September 11, 2001 and the United States government.
Evidence is derived from news footage, scientifi... read more

My Testimonials

February 20, 2006
Basswerks is a slut. Grade A, certified whore. And I love her dearly. I miss her dingy floor. I miss the hookers and naked druggies in the alley. I miss the wall-vibrating bass. I miss the community theater events and Sunday cookouts. I miss tanning naked on the roof (heheh). I miss tending to the patio garden. Burritos from Daddy's. Welding in the front room, bondage in the back. And who knows just how many children have been conceived there? Ahh, the memories.
