Jay is a multifaceted diamond of brilliant talents, a true musical savant. And he's a natural in lordly renaissance garb. But what is most striking about this striking man is his aura of easy hospitality. His very presence makes you feel like you are sitting by a cozy fireplace, listening to (live) chamber music and sipping a well-aged chablis. And that is a comfy presence indeed. Thanks for feeling like home, Jay!

There are so many reasons to love Jay. Not least among them being his ability to make any place feel like home, his musical talent and enthusiasm, and his quick and playful sense of humor. And let's not forget his hugs- great big warm embraces that feel more like snuggling in a standing position. For that matter, his snuggling is pretty fantastic too! Jay has always inspired me with his compassion and willingness to see all sides of an issue. That and his log blowing abilities. Nobody blows a log like Jay. Naturally I am referring to the didgeridoo... In any case, there is an essense of male power about Jay that is as attractive as it is undeniable. Elements of Pan, Dionysis, Thoth, Agni, Enlil, and Marduk combine in him to create a man who is as comfortable with philosophical discourse over cocktails as he is with dancing around a fire to tribal drums. In the eternal words of En Vogue: Whatta man Whatta man Whatta mighty good man!

Rumors, Gossip, and Lies

This evening; In honor of my thirty-twelfth birthday, I will be dining on sushi and reflecting upon the loss of my youth.

Should any of my Las Vegas friends wish to join me, I will be at "Sushi on Tropicana" on the southeast corner of Tropicana and Topaz (about two blocks east of Eastern) at 8PM. Please, no gifts, but if anyone can wrangle me a date with Han, the sushi chef, that would be delightful.

See ya there!

Today I signed my contract to be a keyboardist in Cirque du Soleil's production of KA at the MGM Grand.

Needless to say, I am delighted and excited, and a bunch of other iteds all at the same time.

I've been in communication with the Cirque folks for several years now, and have been campaigning hard for a job.
It was not until I actually met KA Musical Director Richard Oberacker that things fell into place.
Never underestimate the power of begging.

To start out, I'm going to be an ... read more

Wow. What an interesting morning.

I woke up very early today (5:30-ish). Realizing that it was Wednesday, and therefore garbage pick-up day, I went downstairs to take the garbage out. There, asleep under the neighbors apple tree was a man. His face was covered, and I couldn't tell much about him. I took the garbage out, and went back inside, but decided to keep an eye on him.

About ten minutes later, when I checked to see what was up, he had moved across the street, and was asleep sitt... read more

Okay, okay.... I'll admit it.
I just went to the Barry Manilow show, "Music and Passion" (which are, of course, *always* in fashion).

I've got to say, the guy puts on a really good show. It is basically a chatty 'greatest-hists' retrospective, but also includes a few of his lesser known tunes, and a couple new covers (Including a beautiful rendition of Journey's "Open Arms").

My favorite moment was when they projected a floor to ceiling video of Barry making one of his earliest T.V. a... read more

Most of you probably didn't even know about this, and please, don't be concerned.
For those who knew and are wondering, my mouth surgery went fine today.

I would not recommend mouth surgery as a fun way to spend an afternoon, but it was a lot less bad than it might have been.
Badger graciously took me and drove me home, and now I'm enjoying one of the few perks of surgery; Percoset.

The Dr. Says that I can try playing didge by this weekend.

I'm taking one to Fires Rising with the... read more
