Rhyolite Ghosts

Part of a sculptural installation by Albert Szukalski just outside of the ghost town of Rhyolite, NV. The sculptures are life-size, and were made by draping fabric over a model, and then covering the fabric with a fiberglass resin. Just outside the old mining town of Chloride, NV. In 1966, (the year I was born, thank you) Roy Purcell painted these incredible murals. You need a 4-wheel drive to get to them, and it's a bumpy ride. But it's worth it. Evidently, he went back two years ago, and freshened them up quite a bit. They are spectacular!
