I used to put my music player on random and I would marvel at the way the computer seemed to sense what I needed to hear. I now realize that I was simply projecting a human capacity for sensitivity and understanding on to a machine, but I don't think that that makes my relationship to the computer program any less legitimate. In the old days, if someone suspected a merchant of any kind of foul play, they would no longer do business with that merchant. Today it is common knowledge that the companies we get our food from fill it with chemicals that are known and intended to influence us to consume them faster so that we have to buy more, yet we condone this and continue to purchase these low products. I've noticed that everyone's a hypnotist. We all have tricks for getting anyone to behave a certain way. it starts with our parents and siblings. We learn how to make them swoon, how to frustrate them, how to please them.
