I recently found a pic of my personal Native American Church fan. I was quite the fan maker back in the mid '80s and made fans for several museums, as well as Native American Chruch leaders and participants.

The peyote church was my first use of entheogenic medicines as sacrament. It opened my mind to the reality of the beauty in the world. I will always fondly remember those days on the peyote road.

I'm in the process of screen printing an art print of an image I used on an Umphrey's McGee San Francisco Great American Music Hall poster a few years back.

I found the original dragon image on a vintage WWII era kimono that was brought home by a Pearl Harbor veteran. I redrew the dragon adding various touches to it to make it rock and roll worthy. I wanted to celebrate San Francisco's Asian culture and thought this motif was perfect. The fans agreed and the poster sold out. It has been a sought after piece since that time. I have had many people ask me about doing an art print, so I took the plunge and reworked the piece with more detailing.

It's screen printed with water base inks and Golden acrylic paints on 18x24 Eclipse black paper. The gold is a super shiny sparkle metallic.

We sold out this edition in about 5 hours this past Thursday. I may have a few extra that will be available on my website www.drowningcreek.com as soon as the printing is complete and we come up with the final edition number, somewhere around 150 pieces signed and numbered.

Thanks to all who purchased a copy and a special heartfelt thanks for supporting me in my artistic journeys.

Sometimes these lessons must be learned the hard way.

I was recently in an online discussion with some people about what constitutes a photo vs art. Since my photography is all processed through photoshop I feel that I don't do real "traditional" photography in the true sense. I tend to tweak and play with the images. I saturate color, desaturate color, tint, sharpen, clean up dust etc, etc...so I consider it to be digital art.

Often times the photo is just the start of a project and I like to take it to extremes like in this Derek Trucks painting. This piece started from a shot I took several years ago. I've been working in Corel Painter since 1993 and love the freedom that the program allows. I can take a photo and using oils, pastels etc, repaint the photograph to my liking.

It's not a photo anymore, but still heavily based on the original shot, and all hand painted in Painter X.

I once lived in Myrtle Beach, SC. After I moved to Athens, I often had to go back and forth to see clients. Each time I made the trip I passed by this old abandoned diner about a half hour from the beach. I was always intrigued by old abandoned buildings and this once happened to be one of those old classic diners with chrome. One trip, I had the camera and was able to get some shots before they tore it down.
