It was 20 years ago today...

...and this is what I wrote in my journal about it: "This freshman Barry, whom I met in the Dean's office the other day when he thought I was someone else, seems to have taken a liking to me. He made me a drink of rum and Sprite, and I had some pina coladas, too. This was enough to get me giggly. Barry and I, thinking we're more articulate after drinking a little, compared SAT scores and rank -- a real freshman thing to do." And that wasn't even the party during which Barry handcuffed the two of us together!

Here's to one of my favorite left-handed valedictorians -- and to a friendship that has endured for two decades, despite the miles and years between us and because of the experiences we have shared. Just don't ask me about the 151 night. I don't remember too much of it.

Barry is an old friend, intelligent, fun, easygoing, and I miss that sarcastic humor! I'm sure he's a great lawyer, cause hey, is there anything an engineer can't do? ;)
