I've been an ordained monk for 14 years, a gelong (fully ordained) for 12 years. I received gyetsul (novice) ordination from His Holiness Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok and gelong (full) ordination from His Holiness Penor Rinpoche. I've been studying Buddhism since the early '70s, having acquired an interest while stationed in Japan in the Air Force 1970-71. Started out in Zen. Then Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche came to town (Evanston, Illinois), and I got hooked by him. Eventually I ended up where I am now, a student of Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo in the Palyul lineage of Nyingma.
