about me
BEB is pronounced "beeb".
I like interesting, offbeat people. I love art, music, film, nature, good food, and good conversation. I strongly dislike dogmatism, rigid mindsets, and any forms of fundamentalism. I think we as a species need to move beyond myth-based culture (religion, hero/celebrity worship, etc.) to a post-mythic, non-dogmatic, integral rationalism (tempered by experiential learning, fun, love, & passion for life). Myths can be powerful, as well as dangerous. They are maps, and the map is not the territory. Blind faith is not a virtue. ahem... I sometimes refer to myself as a "skeptical mystic" and/or a "recovering reductive materialist" =8^) I often talk too much. I believe that belief is a most dangerous and powerful force. (irony intended)

That is how music acquired the character of an art of night and twilight'.

as a child in school memorizes facts and concepts from books and from what the teacher says, collecting information from the traditional sciences as well as from the new sciences. With such intelligence you rise in the world. You get ranked ahead or behind others in regard to your competence in retaining information. You stroll with this intelligence in and out of the fields of knowledge, getting always more marks on your preservi... read more

"Truth is a pathless land. Man cannot come to it through any organization, through any creed, through any dogma, priest or ritual, nor through any philosophical knowledge or psychological technique. He has to find it through the mirror of relationship, through the understanding of the contents of his own mind, through observation, and not through intellectual analysis or introspective dissection. Man has built in... read more
