The Saddest Poem I can write the saddest poem of all tonight. Write, for instance: "The night is full of stars, and the stars, blue, shiver in the distance." The night wind whirls in the sky and sings. I can write the saddest poem of all tonight. I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too. On nights like this, I held her in my arms. I kissed her so many times under the infinite sky. She loved me, sometimes I loved her. How could I not have loved her large, still eyes? I can write the saddest poem of all tonight. To think I don't have her. To feel that I've lost her. To hear the immense night, more immense without her. And the poem falls to the soul as dew to grass. What does it matter that my love couldn't keep her. The night is full of stars and she is not with me. That's all. Far away, someone sings. Far away. My soul is lost without her. As if to bring her near, my eyes search for her. My heart searches for her and she is not with me. The same night that whitens the same trees. We, we who were, we are the same no longer. I no longer love her, true, but how much I loved her. My voice searched the wind to touch her ear. Someone else's. She will be someone else's. As she once belonged to my kisses. Her voice, her light body. Her infinite eyes. I no longer love her, true, but perhaps I love her. Love is so short and oblivion so long. I need your help....Please cut and paste the letter below and send it to the mayor!!! Thank you , Thank you!!!!!!! Here's what going on: Last August the City of San Francisco allocated $250,000 from its budget to cover the Recreation and Parks Department's cost to start the planning and design of a new playground at Mission Dolores Park. However, last week the Mayor's office announced their intention to rescind the appropriation of millions of dollars from this year's budget including $200,000 of the $250,000 allocated for the planning and design of the new playground. We have been working very hard to find private funding to cover the actual construction costs which were estimated by Rec & Park Department to be over 2 million dollars. If we lose this funding the 1.5 million in private donations my be in jeopardy as well Please help us save this funding! Send an email to Mayor Newsom and tell him that you support the Friends of Dolores Park Playground and not to cut their funds . Sample language and email addresses are below. Gavin.newsom@sfgov.org; Philip.ginsburg@sfgov.org It would help if you sent a copy to Nancy Gonzalez Madynski at missiongirl@gmail.com, and mention that you are a member of the Friends of Dolores Park Playground Community. Mayor Newsom, I am a supporter of Dolores Park Playground. I am dismayed to learn that your staff is recommending that the city break its agreement with them and rescind $200,000 already provided in this year's budget. Please intervene. It doesn't make sense to cut funding at this time for the following reasons: 1. The $250k allocated for planning at Dolores Park Playground has already been activated by the initiation of planning and design work as lead by Friends of Dolores Park Playground in conjunction with RPD. 2. A private funder is interested in paying for the renovation of the playground, a $1.5M value, but only if the renovation can be done quickly and as a gift in place to the city. 3. The private funder will not pay for the associated planning work that will be triggered by the playground renovation, such as surrounding drainage and irrigation, ADA compatibility of pathways and restrooms and safety measures such as lighting. 4. The bond funds allocated for Mission Dolores park planning are not slated to be spent until late 2009- the private renovation of the playground has already begun, therefore the city risks loosing a $1.5m value, as well as bond funding being liberated to cover the extensive costs for the repair of the park in general. 5. This neighborhood and specifically Dolores Park did not receive any funds that were allocated to it from the 2000 Park Bond and is long overdue for a timely renovation. That was a scrumptiously buenisimo show! And 2 months later I'm finally doing the posting. (yikes) I was waiting for an events section to be added to my website .. but i couldn't wait any longer so above in the fotos section of my tribe you can take a look-see of some of my favorites. Next Friday there'll be even more photos of YDRS in the upcoming issue of ALARM. I did a short photo essay on these guys as well as the Vau de Vire and Kitten on the Keys. You can get an issue at Needles and Pens on 16th and Guerrero.
