about me
I started belly dancing when I was 5 years old, in Texas; my mom was the one who got me into it. Unfortunately, I think I was too young to understand just how awesome the dance was, and when my troupe split up when I was 11, I didn't try to find another place to dance. So when I was 16 and living in Bako again, I heard that some group called the Bellydance Superstars was coming to town, so I went to see the show and was absolutely amazed and inspired by it. That same night, I came across beginners' classes that were held at the Spotlight Theater. My mom and I decided to start belly dancing again, and from then on, I've been dancing almost 24/7. I can't imagine what it would be like to live without dance. I am so grateful for my amazing teachers Seneca and Aura and the friends that I've made through dance. I love you guys!
Other than dance, I am a junior Music Industry Studies major at Cal State Northridge, and I play saxophone, violin, piano, mbira, zills, and a little bit of doumbek.

I just got back from Dallas, I'm jetlagged out of my skull, and I've been eating junk food for the past 3 days. Naturally, I feel like crap.
So what am I going to do about it? I'm going to make it all up to myself tomorrow. Good food, exercise...

Tonight, while watching the new BDSS "Tribal Fusions" DVD, I got inspired to start working on my own costuming stuff. Since I didn't do so well last time, when I tried to make a bra, I decided I wanted to start making a tribal headdress. I chose ...

This is a quote from an anonymous Tunisian belly dancer, and it rings in my heart with so much truth. My entire life has become centered around dance, and I never really realized just how much it affected me until today. I mean, don't get me wrong...

So what am I going to do about it? I'm going to make it all up to myself tomorrow. Good food, exercise, choreography for Exotica, reading some good books, etc. You get the idea. And I'm not going to curse myself out for scarfing down Chick-fil-A like a madwoman during the weekend. My stomach won't expand THAT quickly.
I have recently come to the...

Tonight, while watching the new BDSS "Tribal Fusions" DVD, I got inspired to start working on my own costuming stuff. Since I didn't do so well last time, when I tried to make a bra, I decided I wanted to start making a tribal headdress. I chose to take a black tie-on headband and sew an old choker that I got at the Highland Games to it.
AND IT ACTUALLY WORKED!!!!
...well, it's not fully complete yet. I want to sew some tassles onto it, or at least glitz it up a little with some fake...

...well actually, I guess I do know. For one, I wouldn't be dancing; I would still be a miserable puddle of Roxanne, oblivious to her calling in life. I would still be unhealthy and edging myself closer to developing ...

I'm looking at a few stores in the mall, and I'm going to Starbucks this week for an interview. I hope at least one of my options will come through, and I won't have to worry about being a drag on my parents money supply for another entire year. Although I do have scholarships to help them, so I'm not setting them back too horribly much.
Hopefully I'll be at...

My entire life has become centered around dance, and I never really realized just how much it affected me until today. I mean, don't get me wrong, music is a big part of my life too, but I mostly connect with music through dance...either that or playing it, but especially in dance. Belly dancing is one of the two things (the other being playing music) that I can do where I don't have to think...
