India, Japan, couchsurfing and moving (maybe)

<div>so im packing my bags, gonna be gone for at least the next 5 and a half weeks. visiting india, then japan. i am trying to think of all the last minute shit i needed to do before i climb aboard the plane. saying bye to some friends was one. so yea, peace. im not gonna be gone long...(unless i end up staying, which i've done before on other trips. ) and i will be back for party season. :) i miss dancing. and bass. and you lovely danceholes.

so just discovered www.couchsurfing.com which is rad. its like...myspace for people who like to travel. you basically have a profile, can leave comments, have pictures, etc, and it is used for exactly what you think. you can search for people who have couches available anywhere in the world, and voila! no hotel costs, built in person to hang out with and maybe be your tour guide..fantastic, innit? they have built in safety measures, like member verification, and they record all messages. and plus you can see if people have hosted before or not based on thier comments. the whole idea is exciting to say the least...it opens up the world for anyone who wants to travel, who dont like the impersonal feel and fees of hotel or hostel stays...

if you are so inclined, add me! my username is Bertzerk.

SOOOO...when i get back..i am probably gonna be looking for a new place to live. (or find a roommate, as my roomies are moving out, plus ive been in this apt for over 4 years now.) wanna live with cool artsy fartsy types..ive always lived with close friends or family, but now i want to venture out into something different. i want to be surrounded by creative folk, so i can be inspired and stuff. somewhere i can haz studio space for art and music and make some noise every once in a while.....so if anyone here wanting the same (or is already in that situation) and is looking to move in 2 or 3 months lemme know...kthanks.

anyway. hope every one has a good one today!

and If you know some cool spots to hit up in these places, lemme know!!</div>

<div>. was really good.

havent seen a perfomer with that much oomph in a long while, especially a hip hop artist. When you see veins popping out of peoples necks and soulful, powerful delivery.... you know the artist loves what they are doing. and that translates well into the crowd. plus the music was good. i dunno if hes doing amoeba sf, but if he is, check it out. </div>

<div>this is a recurring dream ive had for a few years. when it comes, it does not present itself in words, this is a rough attempt to exhort it from that space with my unwrought english......i might refine it over time.

__________________________________________________

Once upon a time before there was time, consciousness was lonely. It was all there was, and all that existed was it.

Consciousness longed to end its aloneness, and ached for another. And so it dreamed of the universe, then shattered itself into infinite shards…. shards that would grow and replicate, and become conscious themselves. These pieces are everything that is, including all of us, endless, beautiful, and reflective! How wonderful it was to be able to experience "other" at last! So as these mirrors evolved over time, some became self aware, and everything they experienced fed into the infinite yet growing baby universe. This infant learned by experiencing, seeing, all the endless permutations of itself.

Over time, the free willed had forgotten their origins, and were fooled into believing that they were wholly unique and separate unto themselves. Their ego sought to dominate its environs, and in doing so, strengthened the imagined rift between everything and their own minds, cementing them in the material realm. They claimed independence from everything and everyone else, and believed that their uniqueness, their separation is what made them alive and real.

...But any semblance of satisfaction could not last. An ancient loneliness lie embedded in our being, steeply buried into the mnemonic devices of our souls, hibernating in symbiosis with an intuition that we have been severed from something great….severed from our primeval self.

Most embraced the illusion of separation to the point of denial of any connection beyond the physical, until they were willing to kill for their sovereignty. They built, stone by stone, nigh impenetrable walls for protection from all else, only to withdraw deeper into aloneness. They would then trek outwards, walls still erect, plunging themselves into hollow groupings, palely imitating unseen bonds. Most of the attempts to fit back were deflected, turning loneliness into pain, pain into bitterness, bitterness into anger, anger into hate.

Isolation eroded everything it touched…

Some figured out that the walls needed to come down.

In longing for something else, the shards begin to instinctively seek to rejoin with that which we once were. We will try everything to get closer, feverously chasing desires, destroying mind and body, even killing ourselves to feel "it". All this without realizing that we are, and can never not be, connected. The great illusion has kept our eyes shut like endless oceans of sleeping beauties.

This tumultuous struggle will claim casualties, but such are growing pains. When the battle is over, the rest of us will awaken, and when we do, we will find that everything that has happened to us, that everything we have experienced, positive or negative, our memories, opinions, ideas, hopes and fears…(aka the personalities we've cultivated, these groups we pretend to belong to, these paths we've forged)

is not us.

Only what has buried us.

----Virginia Tech. Columbine. East Oakland. Hunters Point. What makes kids kill kids? "In Spite of Everything" is the latest entry into the emerging genre of hip-hop theater, featuring the Bay Area's most dynamic spoken word collective, “The Suicide Kings” under the direction of GOLDIE award winning Bay Area legend Marc Bamuthi Joseph. The play theatrically documents the Kings’ unlikely escape from the precipice of their lives, to the center of the public school system in Northern California. The piece has already been presented as a work in progress during the Hip Hop Theater Festival at La Pena Cultural Center and will be further presented in excerpt as part of the Hybrid Project at Intersection for the Arts. They have received significant funding from the Zellerbach Family Foundation and a Creation Fund Commission from the National Performance Network.
----Electrifying stages from HBO’s Def Poetry Jam to San Quentin Penitentiary, the Kings’ underdog aesthetic has always built empathy and compassion for the forgotten elements of society. The story begins the day after a school shooting in an un-named American town. As police and school administrators ask themselves the perennial question “What went wrong?” , they discover a note that implies that three poetry teachers in the school might have the answer. The ensuing inquiry incites several compelling questions:
How does a former born again Christian who spent his youth in and out of metal hospitals, a tattooed Jew who used to run with skinheads and an immigrant ex-Crip punk rocker end up TEACHING POETRY in PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS?
What does their journey say about education in the U.S., shifting male identities and archetypes, the systemic factors that contribute to the deluge of high school violence, and most importantly, survival through art?
---The play is 90 minutes with a live score played by SAM BASS from LOOPSTATION and is a graphic and gripping exploration of the subject and for THREE NIGHTS ONLY!.
