I know it may seem a bit early, but (in Country Garden Dancers) Any idea on when our first post-Faire practice will be?

My old High School Band Director and his partner in crime, Tall Flag Squad choreographer are retiring after 29 years at my old high school and the party is Sunday, June 22. So, if practic... read more

Re: Proof positive: ren faire customers like their historicity (in Ren Faire History Snobs) Stacey was out last year? I know he played Leicester in 2006 and heard he wasn't interested in returning in 2007. I only ever saw Joseph last year. Man, Joseph looks straight out of portraits of Sir Walter Raleigh when he's in costume.

My So-Called Blog

My RUB is fond of Sunday Deliveries. I was delivered a Photo Album before our first show Sunday Morning.

Based on the start of gifts (the gnomes and what I though was the beginning of a story) to what I've been receiving since, I'm thinking I might have an interesting RUB situation, which I'm sure I'll find out the details of Last Weekend.

I effected delivery of my sixth gift. And am getting back reports of the gifts being well-received. I now need to figure out how to deliver my l... read more

My giftie didn't arrive until Late Sunday, not that I was worried about it. It was a kit to grow pansies in a little watering tin from Cost Plus World Market. I'll have to see if my brown thumb with flowering plants has gone away.

I wonder if my RUB knows some of the history of pansies, aside from the lines in Shakespeares plays Hamlet and Midsummer Night's Dream? I looked them up and got lots of info from wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pansy

Interesting stuff. Does my Bene... read more

We've infected both your kids with an enjoyment of the Renaissance Pleasure Faire.

When she was 10, we first brought our niece with us on a day to Faire as her birthday present. She was in costume as, even in our retirement, we spent more days at Faire in costume than in civvies. She was hooked. This year she's a part-time participant with the dance troupe and enjoys her weekends with us.

Dress rehearsal day, my sister brought our niece out. She had our nephew with her and he had fu... read more

Saturday morning, getting ready for the day, a deliverer from the ass end of Faire (the lady from Clan who teaches the herbal classes at Workshops) came by and gave me my gift for the week: A Tiki Party in a bowl!
Said bowl contained:
Umbrella Straws
A dozen plastic leis
A pretty, yet modestly priced silk flower lei
A coconut Cup for me!
A CD of Tiki party music
A set of drinks cards and
A blow-up limbo stick!

That afternoon, I flipped through the cards imaging how cool and refres... read more

Yes, it was yesterday.

I'm not generally an "environmentalist", but I did make a little change yesterday.

While grocery shopping I bought a couple of Stater Bros. cloth grocery bags. Mainly because I was tired of collecting and then having to make sure I brought back the figurative tons of plastic bags to the recycling bin there.

We all get massive amounts of plastic bags while shopping for anything, anywhere and I will still be getting those bags at other establishments which I am ... read more
