RUB Diary and assorted Faire Stuff - Weekend 5
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 8:46 AMI wonder if my RUB knows some of the history of pansies, aside from the lines in Shakespeares plays Hamlet and Midsummer Night's Dream? I looked them up and got lots of info from wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pansy
Interesting stuff. Does my Benefactor know we do a dance called Heartsease? Heartsease is the Viola Tricolor that the cultivated pansy developed from. Hmmmmmm.
I found out, after I arranged my delivery, that the person I am gifting was not on Site Saturday and would not be in his/her usual role on Sunday, though I learned the gift did make it to that person's primary area. I do hope he/she received it.
Other Faire Stuff:
This was MayDay weekend. All single people were allowed to have their hair down and uncovered except for a flower garland. The Queen came and wrapped the Maypole on Saturday, a first I think. Also Saturday I bought a copy of the new RESCU benefit CD: Chorus for a Queen featuring several West Coast Based Faire/Reenactment musical groups. Featured is an updated version of "Happy Jack's Undrinkable Ale" by the Boggards. Overall, a good disc.
Sunday, a couple skeins of yarn sold by Auntie Pita and Deena at St. Cuthbert's screamed at me to take them home. They're a gorgeous, worsted weight merino wool hand-panted in shades of green to blue to purple. Now to figure out what to make for myself with them, they're telling me something loose and lacy-looking right now. :-)
Sunday, my Sister and nephew were out again and they had a good time. A couple of times during the day my sister left my nephew with us so she could see the Boggards and Wives. We took him to see ' A Tail of Friendship" and the Merry Wives of Windsor at the Music Stage. He is truly infected. He was wearing his Wayward Ware outfit and flat out told his Mom that he could go backstage (and man, he wanted to go backstage!) because he was in costume and she wasn't. My sister took him to be in Kid's Militia, which he enjoyed and declared that he needed to do that every time he visits Faire and when the time came to get his medal he stated he was at Faire with us! Now, due to costs involved, kids with participant adults don't get a medal, but apparently it was more important for my nephew to be associated with participants than to get a medal, :shakes head:, what a little stinker!

hehehehe
it is grand being able to infect the ones you love with your particular brand of 'disease' |

Now we just need to teach Sister to dance so Niece and Nephew can come out every weekend!

Well, I am supposed to make her a costume in the off-season. I'll need to consult JoAnn about things concerning ladies of a fluffy nature.
I don' t know what her musical aptitude is, but her dance aptitude is actually better than mine as she was in dance in High School along with Tall Flags. |
