What is it about paper?

From Dane Cook (as far as I can tell from what I've read on teh internets)

and supposedly paper beats rock because of an ancient Chinese custom or somesuch.

I dunno about the scissors, but according to a comment on Found Magazine
( www.foundmagazine.com/comments/770 )

'Paper beats rock because of an ancient Chinese custom. Legend has it that a Chinese emperor would place the Imperial Seal (usually a carved stone) on top of a new law if he approved of it. If the emperor did not approve the law, he would place the paper on top. Thus, placing paper on top of a rock became a symbol for defeat.'

OMG this is f-n hillarrrrrrrrrrrious! Rock, paper, scissors is one of my favourite ways to duel out disagreements, and I think I'll adopt one of these principles, I agree, paper is the pussy of the duel.
