Every now and then, something reminds me why I moved away from the East Coast. I periodically wax nostalgic for New York City. Lately it's been when ordering tea from a cafe. In New York, I ask for a cup of tea and they stick a bag of Lipton into a paper cup, and I have a cup of tea! He wept continuously during the funeral of his partner of more than 30 years and over a thousand films. “My Babe will understand why I can't be there.” He and Babe were so much in synch that they had strokes within days of each other. Stanley would survive. Babe, who had been recently diagnosed with cancer, died of complications. Stanley for all intents and purposes was left a widower.
