I'm going to keep this simple.

Cake is an awesome literary talent.
His writing is fantastic.

The talent is great, without a doubt
but this man also WORKS IT.
He refines his stories into fine-cut gems
of horror and macabre.

The fact that he's a great guy
makes it all the more fabulous

We hear about arrogant artistic geniuses
all the time
but this man has the genius AND the great personality
to make him something of a superman.

He is my favorite ELYSEUM reader.

Quote of the Day

"Breathers have no idea of the emotional fallout from a rapidly digesting pancreas. Or how hard it is to keep your tissues from liquefying."

So for those of you who didn't know, I've written a book. A dark comedy about zombies called BREATHERS. Think Fight Club meets Shaun of the Dead, only with the zombies as the good guys and told from the perspective of a zombie.

BREATHERS hit the shelves on March 3 of this year and has been selling well, with a mention on the front page of the Life section of today's USA Today, which you can see in the photo. It's supposed to be reviewed in the April 20 issue of TIME. Yes. That would be... read more

I just recevied my first official review from Kirkus Reviews, which is one of the main pre-publication review sources within the literary industry. The review is slated to appear in their January 15, 2009 issue. I have to say, it's a good way to start off the New Year:

BREATHERS: A Zombie's Lament

The dead shall walk the earth, and they're hungry for…love?

Debut novelist Browne branches out from his mostly horror-related short stories and delivers a rousing entry in the Rom-Zom-Co... read more

It's been a while since I've been here, as I've been busy with doing shameless self-promotion on my novel and writing my next book, but I just wanted to share that while the publication of my novel is still several months away, the official web site for Breathers: A Zombie's Lament launched last week at www.undeadanonymous.com.

Breathers is a dark comedy about undeath through the eyes of an ordinary zombie. A classic story of suffering and redemption, like The Color Purple or the New Tes... read more

I’ve always enjoyed hanging out in toy stores.

Not the toy stores in shopping malls or the stores that have educational toys and games that teach children about nature and the environment. Please.

No, I’m talking about the crack houses of toy stores. The ones bursting with the colors of an acid trip and stocked with syringes of over-indulgence. The ones filled with a variety of narcotics to feed the addictions of the future consumers of the world.

The Disney Store.
FAO Schwarz.
