about me
What could I truly say that would help you understand who I am? I've gone through a lot of changes in the last few years, and I've reached a point where I seek inspiration, beauty, and warmth.
I drum whenever I can, and that's led me to know a lot of dancers and drummers. Depending on who I drum with it can be a spiritually refreshing experience. With the wrong drummers I'm often sitting there waiting for them to shift over to something more enjoyable for the group or more entertaining. I love drumming so much I supply rugs to sit on and drums for others to use. Over the years I've found this is usually very rewarding. I've participated in drumming at shows for specific rythms or moods as well as engaged in general circle drumming that can seem to go on forever. With the right drummers around you time and the importance of events around you can start to fade away and the rythm can begin to just flow through your hands. When the drummers are all working together this can be a thing of great beauty to experience and many drummers regard this with reverence.
I love camping or going to festivals, but only with good company. The most important things in life to me, is time spent with people I can admire and respect or love.
What I value is the golden moments. The times when you are doing something with someone and their good company just washes your thoughts of the world away. It's usually found in good conversation yet sometimes it can go beyond words. For me this is the height of life, losing oneself in the moment.
For the last few years when I decide what I will or won't do, who I am doing it with or why I am doing it has become much more important to me than what I am doing.
Whether you are a complete unknown or a huge celebrity if you meet me keep in mind to me everyone is the same. I'm more likely to remember you after a good conversation than from seeing your face a hundred times all over the place. I do puzzle over where I know a face from sometimes, but that is different from a knowing recognition.
I'm very open and honest and I expect the same from others.
I was going through various news items and something caught my eye. There was a link, so I thought what the heck, and clicked it.

This bit really caught my attention:
<i>The toll road program includes expansions of U.S. 290, U.S. 183 and Texas 71 in East Austin, added elevated lanes at the "Y" in Oak Hill on U.S. 290 and Texas 71, and one new road, Texas 45 Southwest. Previously, the mobility authority, which will operate all fiv...

A few weeks ago I was hearing from a very distraught christian who was in great fear of a muslim being elected for president.
Leaving alone the obvious problems with this irrational fear let's look at a root issue. Why has it been so easy for christians to be made paranoid about muslims and show such intolerance?
Well part of it is pride. the Muslim faith worships the same god, yet is much older. Sometimes little brothers resent the big ones.
Another part of it is animal instincts...

Something was said yesterday about hippies and for my own amusement I said "but what makes me a hippy?"
Her reply was "look in between your legs" which is where I had a bougarabou and a Dejmbe.
I replied "It's that easy eh?" to which she replied "look around you".
I looked around the drum circle. A assorments of blankets and rugs with finger foods and snacks laid out with bottled water spread over a blanket in the center of the circle. Around the circle was the usual varied types o...

The artists I respect are those that produce art, or show artistic talent while practicing respect for others.
If there is not respect for others the art itself becomes worthless to me. This includes both physical art creators, and performers. If someone takes video or records my drumming without permission to promote themselves I consider it theft. When someone is networking and tries to take credit for my knowledge or ability it offends me. When someone is trying to ride on the tail ...

I've met a lot of people in life. I've been around some and in truth I've found relatively few people see the big picture in terms of the human race and society because everyone seems so caught up in the rat race. We have been taught what to do, where to go, and what to think by a society controlled by profit and special interests that don't care about the welfare of the people.
Thom the world poet said something to me that kept tickling my brain. I've heard it before and this time som...
