Jazz trumpet soloist, songwriter, poet, composer, teacher, and entrepreneur.

"From Soloist to 35-Piece Band"

About the musician:

Byron Dibble possesses a 4-octave range and has been playing the trumpet for over 40 years. He has performed for literally thousands of people. He grew up on Long Island where he toured many lounge circuits as a lead trumpet player with 3 to 8 piece bands for years. Mr. Dibble moved to Western New York in 1978 and earned a master's degree from the State University at Buffalo.

His main instrument is a silver Maynard Ferguson Holton Trumpet (MF Horn) with a custom-made mouthpiece manufactured by the world-renowned Monette Corporation in Oregon. He also enjoys playing solos on his Couesnon Star Paris Flugelhorn or on his Yamaha silver cornet.

In addition to helping several high schools with their musicals, he has played at the Tralf, the Allendale Theater, Riviera Theater, Art Park, New Phoenix Theater, in the Atrium of Roswell Cancer Institute, and in numerous nursing homes throughout WNY including The Waters of Dunkirk, The Waters of Gasport, The Waters of Aurora Park, Greenfields, Elderwood at Oakwood, Niagara Lutheran Home, Batavia Nursing Home, Delaware Rehab & Nursing Facility, and many more. He performs as lead trumpet for the Lockport Community Band in Lockport, NY and has played with the local but critically acclaimed Amherst Wind Ensemble.

Several times a year, he plays at Lancaster Opera House for large theatrical productions with a well-known group called, "Operalytes". There, they have performed "The King & I", "The Student Prince", "Kiss Me Kate", "Carousel", "HMS Pinafore", "Hello Dolly", "Pajama Game", "Guys and Dolls". In May 2009, he performed with a 16-piece orchestra for the Operalytes' production of "Brigadoon". Next up: "Most Happy Fella" at Lancaster Opera House in October 2009.

He has provided lead trumpet work for other productions, too, including: "Man of LaMancha", "West Side Story", "Cabaret", "Fiorello!", "Good News!", "Boys From Syracuse", "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum", “Bye Bye Birdie”, "Dracula - A Gothic Opera" at Lancaster opera House, and "42nd Street" at Tonawanda High School. Mr. Dibble was assisting the Salamanca High School in their performances of "The Wizard of Oz" in March of 2008 and most recently, a wonderful musical called, "A Year With Frog and Toad".

Although he continues to contribute his talent to theater/orchestral work, his latest and most exciting innovation which implements technology, features just himself playing solo to music accompaniments (pop, jazz, musicals, ballads) stored on a laptop computer and amplified through quality speakers. Most of the songs are from the 70's, 80's and 90's but the spectrum stretches back even into the early 20th Century, as he is versatile with most genres. The high-tech application results in a sound that approaches a 10-piece band at times and is rarely (if ever) done with brass instruments. People of all ages thoroughly enjoy his unique sound and style.
