My Dad died. He was 80. He was an asshole who beat me up as a kid. Yes, I miss him. He was sick mentally his whole life and didn't know it. He did have a big heart though, to anyone outside the family.

i sucks to miss someone that sucked as a parent, & you wouldn't have as a friend. my dad didn't even have mental illness as an excuse.

*big hug*
I know the feeling, I felt the same way when my paranoid schizophrenic grandmother passed away.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I almost lost it today when I ordered the wreath for him. My one brother said he didn't need to grieve because dad was dead to him years ago. I would feel the same way but I was his caretaker in recent years.

This is so difficult. Death, and it's finality brings up all of the old demons that we have tried to put behind us. My heart goes out to you and your family; I hope that you are able to get the closure that you deserve after all of this. I know that this will continue to hurt for a while, but know that you are loved and that your friends are thinking of you and wish you the best.

Dad was not abusive!
He was psychic, and knew you would eventually deserve those beatings, so he gave them out in advance! A visionary, a man ahead of his time really.
