Catharting all over you.
If somebody doesn't post a comment soon, I'm going to throw a tantrum. THEN you'll all be sorry.
Tue, September 4, 2007 - 2:08 AMAlso, GAH! I certainly hope I can bring this project to some kind of useful conclusion in another two days. TWO DAYS? Christ. I'm fucked. In three weeks, I've had to learn two AMS (Application Management System--the portion of the JME that is responsible for managing the lifecycle of Java applications on an embedded device) architectures, Windows IPC (*barf*), and the JSR 211 specification, and then mostly rewrite the JSR211 code because the new architecture that I'm porting to is so different.
I'm being a whiny bitch--this is my JOB, after all. But I'm also in China, which is, itself, a little stressful from time to time. This morning as I was almost ready to head out of the hotel to come to work, the thought popped into my head, "Oh, shit, it's still CHINA out there, isn't it?" As though "China" were a weather pattern I had been hoping would blow over. So.... Ordering breakfast by pointing; wild gesticulations with the taxi driver to get him to drop me off where I want to go, instead of where he seems to want to take me. Also, fast-ish food courts in and near office parks are, it turns out, mediocre the world over.
At least Mo is home. She's gonna be lucky if I don't break her on Friday night.

The good: hanging out with friends, seeing Morley again, Mella and Nicole's unexpected arrival, cool art (TWO pieces with monkeys!!!!), huge ball of flame at Crude Awakening, running DDI successfully, my clean shaven boyfriend, a late night field of pinwheels, Simon's pig car, etc.
The bad: absent friends, my hitherto unknown power to cause dust storms just by stepping out of the shower, clueless people (like the girl who, when I told her DDI was done for the night and she wouldn't be able to play, asked "who's in charge here? Is there someone we can talk to?"), SHIFT camp, weird convention-esque informercial displays at the base of the man. Missed you. We tried to keep Mo-jito hydrated. Hope your trip home is safe and quick. Alice |

I should've armed you with my copy of The Atlantic "Why China's Rise is good for us, for now" Which I LOVE LOVE LOVE to bring up when somebody whines about how HORRIBLE China is. Not you, I mean, you are there, so you have a right to call it horrible.
One of the more salient points of the issue: Yeah, young women work 12 hour days for low wages, but they have something that the American working poor don't have: Savings Accounts!!! The part of the article I wanted for you was the one on where to get really good breakfasts, though. |

It's good to know that, should my girlfriend require beating and I somehow be unable to rise to the occasion, you're available to pitch in.
You're a stand-up guy, Jonathan, no matter what they say about you when you're not around. |
