About the names

I've been going by "Bottom Bob" for a long time. I've used it because it's unique and memorable - it makes people stop, think and wonder "what's that all about?" and the name sticks in their heads. It comes from my business: Bob's Bottom Service. We clean the bottoms of boats while they are in their berths, and find things people drop in the water. So I will always be Bottom Bob on the waterfront.

I've been using Bobby Love lately at parties and community gatherings, getting universally positive feedback. So here it is, time to make official, I changed my tribe name! and it's not just a made up name either. I was always Bobby as a kid and many friends still call me that, and my Dad's bio Dad was named Donald Love!

The Pastor says...

One of my joys is listening to the Prairie Home Companion on NPR. In the latest installment of the News From Lake Woebegone, Pastor Ingkvist says,

" I'm giving up on giving up on things. "

That's my attitude!

Great Day at Northstar

Well I didn't find a copilot for Monday so I went solo. It was freakin' awesome! I was blazing down the groomed runs, finding a little untracked pow here and there, hitting every part of the mountain, taking the small jumps in the terrain park, and getting really good dark beers on my breaks. I put in a full day at full speed, waiting for no one. Solo can be good!

I shot some video with my Motorola V9 phone, Let's see if I can get 'em posted here. The file extension is .3g2 They play fine in Quicktime on my mac..... Nope, Tribe wants a still photo, so here's my RoboSkiBuddy. I hooked up with him since the BioBuddies couldn't make it.

Bluebird Day on the horizon

Long range sensors indicate that Monday Feb 25 will be a clear and beautiful day in the Sierras, with at least a foot of FRESH POWDER on the slopes! I'm hot to go and looking for one or two more rabid powderhounds from the SFBayarea to assist in a crack-o-dawn assault on Sugar Bowl or North Star.

I've already missed two of these days due to lack of support troops, so I'm determined to make this one!

I drive a big comfy van, snowboard on blues and blacks, get along just fine with skiers.

SF Fetish Ball

Hey I have 69 friends now! Should I quit while I'm giving and getting head?

The Fetish Ball is coming up March 8. I just love all the leather and latex and lace and skin! Major hot eye candy! I'll be there with Kristal (see my friends list), wearing my black + red latex catsuit. Any tribe friends going? Come say hello!

Another bit about cutting

This time my body gets cut.

I spent tremendous amount of my youth surfing Ocean Beach (it was Kelly's Cove back then) and other NorCal spots. I also started abalone diving and cleaning boat bottoms in my 20's. There was a time when my ears just never dried out.

All this exposure to cold water caused me to develop "Surfer's Ear", a condition where the ear canal becomes constricted with bony bumps. While I could hear alright most of the time, if I were to get water in my ears from jumping in a pool, submersing in a hot tub, diving under a wave, or free diving in Thailand, I'd become deaf for a week to a month. This is because the ear wax would swell up, and the water couldn't get out. I'd have to see an ear doctor and get cleaned out with a tiny vacuum cleaner - and he couldn't get it all 'cuz of all the bony growths in the way.

Enough already. Yesterday afternoon I had an Exostosis Procedure, got my right ear canal drilled out. It's a 3-4 hour op under general anesthesia. They sent me home about 7pm.

Damn it was good to have a sweet woman to help me out! Thank you GG, I love you! I'm such a "do it myself" guy, it's hard for me to ask for help. I was pretty groggy last night, still moving slow this morning, but Im coming around, even the pain is not too bad.

I'm really happy to have gotten this done, I've always been such a water dog, and this condition held me back. We'll do the other ear in a few months, then I guess I'll have to do an exotic dive trip next winter!

For now, I could use some visits and hugs...

OK, I surrender

I've finally given in to the concept. BBob will blog.

What's got me excited right now is a new tool. I bought a CORDLESS Sawzall with some pruning blades and two batteries. Man does this this thing rip through the wood! I can use it one handed while making like a monkey!

If you're not a homeowner with trees, you may not be able to relate to this, but pruning makes me very happy. It gives me space, it makes my yards look good, it's like getting a haircut. I'm doing a dump run tommorrow, then tackling some BIG trees!
